Installation Instructions Using your CDRom Step 1 –To begin installation from the ePIP © cdrom , double click the installation program: ePIP.exe. When the Open File dialog opens. Click Run .

Step 2 – Verify Practice Player – After you click Run , a dialog box opens with a security warning: “The publisher could not be verified. Are you sure you want to run this software?” Click Run to continue installing Practice Player. Installation Instructions

Step 3 – Read the Software License Agreement –You are prompted to read the Software License Agreement. Click Yes after you have read the License Agreement and agreed to its terms. Installation Instructions

Step 4 – Choose the Destination Location – You may either accept the default location or choose a new location for the Practice program files by clicking the Browse button. To accept the default location, click Next . Practice Player begins configuring the new software installation. When the software installation is complete, click Finish . Installation Instructions

Step 5 – Activate Practice Player – Once the installation has finished, the Software Activation dialog opens. Enter your registration information. Note that the email field is mandatory . When you have entered your registration information, click Next to continue. Installation Instructions

Step 6 – Enter the Product Key – To finish activating the software, you must enter the product key found on your user card. When you have finished entering the product key, click Activate . Installation Instructions

Installing your Units You may now log in to your ePIP program and start learning English the ePIP way! Double click the Practice Player icon on your desktop, or select it from your start menu.

Using Your ePIP: 

Using Your ePIP LOGGING ON to ePIP : Type your user name in the Username field. Type your password in the Password field. Your user name and password are on the user card issued to you by your teacher/school. Select Edulynx from the Domain drop-down menu Click the Start button.

Using Your ePIP After logging in, you will see three (3) buttons: The Open button allows you to open units (or lessons) you have already installed or downloaded.

Using Your ePIP The Story Module : The Story module consists of text, images or video for you to interact with. Listen to Native-English narration, which allows you to use ePIP as a handy e-Reader. You can then practice record ing the Story in your own voice.

Using Your ePIP The Listen and Repeat Module : In the Listen and Repeat module, listen to a short segment, and then record yourself repeating the segment. This module differs from the Story module as the text does not appear on the screen until you repeat the segment. The focus is on listening comprehension, retention, and pronunciation.

Using Your ePIP The Listen and Type Module : In the Listen and Type module, listen to a short segment, and then type what you’ve heard. Similar to the Listen and Repeat module, the text does not appear on the screen. Your typing and listening skills improve with this feature.

Using Your ePIP The Listen and Answer Module: In the Listen and Answer module, listen to questions about the Story, and answer these questions to test your comprehension. In this module you do not need to repeat the text, but instead think about answers in English that relate to the story. This module helps you concentrate on the meaning of the passage as well as the pronunciation.

Using Your ePIP Evaluate Your Progress with Detailed Reports: When you complete a module or an entire learning unit (lesson), you can see your progress in detailed graphical reports that focus on four important areas: pronunciation, comprehension, typing, and reading speed. You can view reports for each module. The speed graph tells you whether you are speaking too fast or too slow. It is best if your graph stays between the two bars. On the right, you will see which words to improve , and by clicking on a word in this column, you can go back to the Story module and record the word again to see if you have learned the right way to say it.

Using Your ePIP Evaluate Your Progress with Detailed Reports: In addition to graphical reports, you receive feedback on exactly what phonemes or sounds you are having trouble pronouncing. When you are finished recording the Story or Listen and Repeat modules, mouse over a word to see which phonemes you need to work on.

Red Text Your reading was understood but needs more work on pronunciation. Black Text Either the text has not been read by you yet, or ePIP could not understand your reading of it. Grey Text Used for titles and descriptive text.
