Acts of academic dishonesty (from the DVC Catalog):

Acts of academic dishonesty (from the DVC Catalog) Cheating : Unauthorized copying or collaboration on a test or assignment, or the use or attempted use of unauthorized materials. Tampering : Altering or interfering with evaluation instruments and documents. Fabrication : Falsifying experimental data or results, inventing research or laboratory data or results for work not done, or falsely claiming sources not used.

Acts of academic dishonesty (from the DVC Catalog) - continued Plagiarism : Representing someone else's words, ideas, artistry, or data as your own, including copying another person ’s work (both published and unpublished material, and material from the Internet) without appropriate referencing, presenting someone else’s opinions and theories as your own, or working jointly on a project, then submitting it as your own. Assisting : Assisting another student in an act of academic dishonesty, such as taking a test or doing an assignment for someone else, changing someone’s grades or academic records, or inappropriately distributing exams to other students. Any other behavior deemed inappropriate by the instructor or the institution.

Potential consequences of academic dishonesty Failing grade for exam or assignment Required consultation with the Dean of Student Life Suspension or dismissal Possible disqualification for transfer to some institutions International students may have to leave the US due to being out of status

Maintaining academic integrity:

Maintaining academic integrity Know the rules: Read the institution’s catalog and website; read the instructor’s syllabus; ask questions if you are confused. Learn how to cite sources properly: English classes; Library Studies classes; Learning Center. Don’t give in to pressure: From parents, from peers. You are more than just a GPA!
