Slide 1:

Be sure to request certification immediately after your last semester at DVC if you complete all of the CSU General Education requirements. This section explains the minimum requirements to transfer as a junior to any CSU campus. Read this part carefully! These three courses and the Math class, explained on page two, are commonly called the “Golden Four” as all transfer students must complete at least those four specific courses (see above). You only need two science classes, one Physical and one Life, but at least one of those must include a laboratory. Most science classes have a Math prerequisite, so you may not be able to register for a science class until after you have completed the Math assessment. These courses may be taken for the Pass/No Pass option if the class is offered with that option, and if you do not need the class for your major. See a counselor for campus-specific practices regarding the use of P/NP grades. These requirements are subject to change from year to year, so check frequently with a counselor to be sure you will have all of the requirements completed before transfer.

Slide 2:

You cannot register for a Math class until after you have completed the Math assessment. Consider your academic goal when choosing a Math course to take; you might need to take some prerequisite courses before you can take the Math class or classes required for your major. Note that not all majors require Math classes, but all transfer students must have at least one transferable Math course to be considered for admissions. Take three courses: One from area C-1, one from area C-2, and a third from either C-1 or C-2. You may use the P/NP grade option for these courses. See again the note in Area B1-3.

Slide 3:

Take three courses from two or three different departments; do not take all three from the same department. Pass/No Pass grades are acceptable, but see the note about P/NP grades in Area B1-3. Take one course from this section.

Slide 4:

These courses are not required for admissions, but they are required for all students to graduate from the CSU. You may reuse courses in this section in either Area C or Area D.
