Mansoor Chief Wildlife Biologist Department of Wildlife Protection J&K STATE, Srinagar Out of the two abandoned (wild-born) female snow leopard neonates (reportedly in their 10th day of age as per accompanying records) sent by Divisional Forest Officer Kargil on 21st July, 1993 for hand rearing in erstwhile Salim Ali National Park Srinagar Kashmir, only one neonate was received alive on 22nd July, 1993, while the another one had died enroute.

Health status on arrival:On physical examination, the cub was found to have:• Acute dehydration• Closed eye slits, • Feeble pulse rate, • Critically subnormal body temp. • Blood & mucus in diarrhoea • Soiled body coat
