But today’s ball games arose from children’s bat ball and football games that were brought to America by first settlers that arrive from Europe in 17th Century .These games were refashioned and elaborated in the course of the 19th century and eventually became the typical American sports of basketball, baseball, and Football. In their current forms these are the most popular sports in the US American Football Basket ball Base ball Ice Hockey Super bowl Slide 3: American Sports American Football Slide 4: American Sports American Football Outside US and Canada, the sport is referred to as American football to differentiate it from other football games especially association football and rugby football. American football evolved as a separate sport from rugby Football in the late 19th Century. The 32-team National Football League (NFL) is the most popular and only major professional American football league Its championship game, the Super Bowl, is watched by nearly half of US television households. Additional millions also watch college football throughout the autumn months, and some communities, particularly in rural areas, place great emphasis on their local high school football team. Basket ball is a ball sport in which , under organized rules two teams of five players each try to score points by throwing a ball through a hoop. It is primarily an indoor sport, played in a relatively small playing area known as court The speed and grace of the game combined with the close proximity of the spectators to the action, make basketball an exiting sport. This is one of the major sport of US. The National Hockey League is the major professional league in North America , and 24 of its 30 teams are based in the United States; the other six are located in Canada. Hockey legends include Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, Bobby Orr and Gordie Howe. The Super Bowl is usually the most-watched U.S. television broadcast of the year, attracting many companies to spend millions of dollars on commercials. The Super Bowl uses Roman numerals to identify each game, rather than the year it was held. The NFL season extends beyond New Year's Eve, so identifying the games by the year of the Super Bowl could cause some confusion. Slide 13: Consonent Sounds All letters other than A, E, I, O, U are consonants. Consonant sound are those sound that are produced where there is obstruction to the passage of air along the oral cavity. We can say that Consonant sound are produced by the partial interruption of breath flow. Consonant sound give clarity and sharpness to a word. They do the work of making our speech crisp and clear.
