To a wide variety of tools such as a drill broach hobbing machine gear shaper milling machine lathe grinder and shaper this actually applies. Of course the usefulness of these types of tools like the Drilling Machines is not described by this definition. So in this article well try to do just that. Using a power source most machine tools are tools also by definition. They are not operated manually in other words. But considered machine tools that are operated by hand there are some tools. For the purpose of making other tools the first what were considered machine tools were actually made. By hand these tools removed the human element from the process of stamping these tools. Instead by machines they were now stamped. By Jacques de Vaucanson the first lathe machine tools were invented in 1751. On a mechanically adjustable head to mount the cutting instrument of the tool he was the very first. This of the hands of the operator took the tool out. These machines could produce pieces as compared to anything produced by even the most skilled tool operator that were much more complex. Before these machines could automatically change the shaping and cutting tools that were being used in the process it wasnt long. To give an example with a number of drill bits a drill machine might contain a cartridge or magazine. These bits for producing holes of different sizes could be used. In order to drill a different size hole before it was automated operators would have to manually change the bit. Today alternating the drill bits by computer program control we have the technology to create a machine. The truth is many of the things that we are able to make today would be either simply impossible to make too costly or tool difficult without machine tools.
