This would have been a nice presentation if the image were accurate. The photo in this presentation is of a caucasian soldier with the same name as the african american inventor who improved the fountain pen. Google William Purvis and ebay and you will come up with an accurate image of the correct person.

. Thing about the Fountain Pen? . . William was a resident of Philadelphia Pennsylvania. What makes him extra great is that he did not just stop at the fountain pen, he made the fountain pen and more. His other inventions are: Patented bag machines, a bag fastener, a hand stamp,  an electric railway device, an electric railway switch, edge cutter on aluminum box, cling wrap, and  wax paper boxes.
