Harsh Realities : Harsh Realities Men tend to be selfish Men struggle viewing wife as an equal Men must “learn” to sacrifice Sanctifying Love : Sanctifying Love Ephesians 5:26-27 26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, 27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. Sanctifying Love : Sanctifying Love Sanctify – Set Apart for Holy Service Sanctifying Love : Sanctifying Love Sanctification begins before Marriage Pre-marital sex is not sanctifying love! The Wife is Not the Enemy!!! Learn to Recognize the Real Source of Anger! Harsh Realities : Harsh Realities Men tend to be harsh and insensitive Men tend to let pressures build and then erupt like a volcano After a “blow up” men want to move on but don’t understand why the wife can’t Domestic Violence is more common among men than women. Male Depression is common and often overlooked – medication is not a sign of weakness. Strong Love : Strong Love Ephesians 5:31 For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. Strong Love : Strong Love Till Death Do Us Part . . . God did not institute Divorce! Strong Love : Strong Love I don’t love her anymore . . . When there is no higher cause to stay married than our own personal happiness, the marriage is headed for failure When we say we don’t love our spouse anymore, we are farther from God than we are our spouse. A Husband’s Love Should Reflect Christ’s Love for the Church : A Husband’s Love Should Reflect Christ’s Love for the Church Ephesians 5:32-33 32This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church. 33 Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.
