How to View a Television Show : 

How to View a Television Show Consider the impact watching television has on you personally. I tend to watch at least two hours of sports on tv each day. Other than picking up a remote and flipping to your favorite show in order to be entertained, there should be some critical thinking involved (at least some of the time!) Consider why some of your favorite television shows are your favorite.

Consider how different shows are organized. How might a sitcom differ from a reality show? Or, think about how a soap opera hooks its viewers from week to week. News shows and documentaries might be more informative rather than primarily entertaining.

Shows are scheduled into “time slots” for airing and the most popular times are considered “prime” because the most number of people are viewing.

Some people say they like shows for the plot or the story….much like a good book. Often television shows have “cliffhanger” (a.k.a. “indeterminate”) endings so that viewers tune into the next show.

Marketing Content Type of products advertised during the show. Audience Who is viewing the ads? What are their ages? Gender? Socio-economic background? Interests? Techniques Graphics/logos Celebrity endorsements Humor Propaganda techniques People’s response Does the target audience purchase these products or connect to the company in a positive way?
