What is a Cleft? :
What is a Cleft? Cleft lip - opening in the lip/ opening in the upper gum. Cleft palate - two sides of the roof of the mouth do not join together resulting in an opening in the roof of the mouth. Exact causes of clefts are unknown. Some factors that can cause clefts include malnutrition, maternal illness, vitamin deficiency, & genetics. There are many physical and emotional effects for children born with cleft lips and palates

Every year 200,000 children are born with a facial deformity. EVERY 3 MINUTES A CHILD IS BORN WITH A CLEFT.

It only takes as little as 45 minutes and $240 to provide a child with free surgery and change his/her life forever. ONE SURGERY FOR A LIFETIME OF SMILES

Along the year we will perform several fundraising and awareness activities in order to raise enough money for new smiles. With a goal of $2,400 we will be able to provide surgeries for 10 children and change their lives forever .

Operation Smile hosts a yearly ISLC around the world. The conference helps students develop and strengthen leadership skills and character, receive training on how to help those in developing countries, as well as learn cultural awareness. Operation smile student clubs around the world are invited to attend this leadership conference. Participants will have the opportunity to hear great speakers share their insights on the topics of leadership, overcoming obstacles and what it means to make a difference.
