Slide 4:What does Growth Point Status mean? The government said Torbay has to build 10,000 new homes. But by signing up for Growth Point Status Mayor Nick Bye increased this to 15,000, saying: “In partnership with our community and the Government, we can achieve a sustainable future for Torbay and make a real contribution to the New Growth Points Initiative.” As a New Growth Point Torbay Council’s aim is to build around 5,000 homes by 2016.
