Slide2: 

The steam engine started in England at the end of the 18th century. It started there because they had the most coal. The steam engine was made by James Watt.

Slide3: 

Elias Howe was the inventor of the sewing machine. He made it in 1846. Howe helped New York become the nation's main clothing producer. He died October 3, 1867.

Slide4: 

When factories started going up families wanted more money so they put their kids in factories. The kids worked hard hours for little money. The kids were always getting hurt.

Samuel Gompers: 

Samuel Gompers Samuel Gompers Was born on January 27 1850 in London. When Samuel was in third grade he became an apprentice to a cigar maker in the East end of London. He learned the trade that he followed for 25 years.
