Slide 1:

Sometimes it seems like a miracle, that the sun will rise, without fail, each and every morning…

Slide 2:

regardless of what we may be going through.

Slide 3:

But each day life begins again.

Slide 4:

…and again.

Slide 5:

Miracles happen every day.

Slide 6:

Scott Evan Keller was born on March 11, 2005.

Slide 7:

And each new day brought a new miracle.

Slide 8:

…and a new reason to be thankful.

Slide 9:

But life can change in a moment.

Slide 10:

Shortly after celebrating his 1st birthday, Scott began having horrible seizures that left him lifeless and confused.

Slide 11:

The local doctors just kept giving him more medication, and the side affects were sometimes worse than the seizures.

Slide 12:

8-12 seizures per day became a way of life for us.

Slide 13:

But we never gave up looking for the answer.

Slide 14:

We found our direction in Houston.

Slide 15:

Scott was diagnosed with Cortical Dysplasia, a condition in which the brain cells don’t organize correctly as a fetus is developing. It is like having a birthmark on your brain.

Slide 16:

With our amazing Pediatric Neurologist, Dr. Angus Wilfong and his team at Texas Children’s Hospital, Scott underwent intensive testing.

Slide 17:

By September 2006, Scott spent most of his toddler days literally paralyzed by his seizures…

Slide 18:

…which had become worse.

Slide 19:

We refused to believe that this was Scott’s fate, so we prayed…and we waited for the doctor to call.

Slide 20:

Hearing that your son would be scheduled for brain surgery is not usually good news… but we believed in miracles.

Slide 21:

Scott got ready for surgery with a new mohawk.

Slide 22:

6:00 a.m. Monday October 30th 2006

Slide 23:

This is what innocence looks like.

Slide 24:

For 8 hours we waited and we prayed.

Slide 25:

Then we waited…

Slide 26:

…and we prayed some more.

Slide 27:

The next day was Halloween. Dr. Wilfong and his P.A. Rebecca.

Slide 28:

We were greeted with a smile…

Slide 29:

We were greeted with a smile… not a seizure.

Slide 30:

And as difficult as it was to stand up in the Pediatric I.C.U. for 48 hours straight…

Slide 31:

… We started to believe in angels too. Nurse Kristin was always there.

Slide 32:

Each hour that passed without a seizure…

Slide 33:

Was one more blessing to thank God for.

Slide 34:

As Scott’s swelling subsided…

Slide 35:

…the swelling in our hearts grew.

Slide 36:

36 hours after surgery.

Slide 37:

This is what a miracle looks like!

Slide 38:

I believe that every one of us has a purpose.

Slide 39:

Even if we never discover what it is.

Slide 40:

2 weeks after surgery at his first Spurs game.

Slide 41:

I believe that Scott Keller has a purpose too.

Slide 42:

He’s here to remind me that each day is a gift. Christmas 2006

Slide 43:

Each moment with Scott confirms that we are not alone and we all need to be thankful for the littlest blessings each and every day. One year after surgery and still seizure free.

Slide 44:

However his true purpose was yet to reveal itself… Halloween was a little less scary the next year.

Slide 45:

Sienna Price Keller was born on November 19, 2007…

Slide 46:

…and she’s really going to need a big brother.

Slide 47:

Every Christmas, this is my gift. Christmas 2009

Slide 48:

Scott has been seizure free since surgery.
