Presentation This is presentation of monument of Adam Mickiewicz.

Introduction : 

Introduction Adam Mickiewicz Monument in Kraków is one of the best known bronze monuments in Poland, and a favourite meeting place at the Main Market Square in the Old Town district of Kraków. The statue was unveiled on June 16, 1898 on the 100th anniversary of his birth, in the presence of his daughter and son. It was designed by Teodor Rygier - a little known sculptor at the time.

History of monument : 

History of monument The monument came into being at a studio on Długa Street under the supervision of an artistic committee. All figures were cast in the Nellich foundry in Rome. The final location of the monument was not decided at once, with at least three other city squares taken into consideration. Ultimately, it was the city Mayor who suggested that the structure be placed at the Main Market Square instead.

Destroy of the Monument : 

Destroy of the Monument In 1940 the Monument was destroyed by the German following German Invasion for Poland. It was not to be seen in the Square until its restoration in 1955. However, most of the figures were recovered from a Hamburg scrap metal heap in 1946, which allowed for restoring of the Monument's original appearance.

Share in live of Kraków Is also the center of many celebrations, demonstrations, happenings. This is the „Adaś" supporters of Krakow sports teams celebrate successes.

Traditions : 

Traditions The monument involves new tradition of Cracow, Cracow popular among school-leavers. During traditional party organised by secondary school a hundred days before final exams students are jumping on one leg pedestal, believing that the number of laps is equal to the assessments of their matriculation.

maintenance of the monument preserved monument is 2 times a year by the office of the city of Krakow, the national fund for protection of monument’s and private sponsors. Adas must be maintained so often to remain still as wonderful as it is.
