BonnaFather: Father Her father was a locomotive engineer from Nova Scotia. He became a trainman on the Kettle Valley Line. John Walter CockellMother: Mother Her mother was a steno with Sydney Mines in Nova Scotia when she met John Cockell. He was a widower whose first wife had died in the 1918 flu. Emily (Carter) CockellBig Family (mostly boys): Big Family (mostly boys) Bonna’s parents had six children. More Brothers!: More Brothers! She also had three brothers from her father’s first marriage… Such Devoted Sisters: Such Devoted Sisters Lois Daisy And two sisters, as well.Her Sister Lois: Her Sister Lois “She was a mother, sister, & best friend to me,” said Bonna. Childhood Home: Childhood Home Her father built a home in Penticton. The CartersGrandpa Carter: Grandpa Carter Alonzo Carter was a hardworking farmer with a wonderful singing voice.Grandma Carter: Grandma Carter Jenny Carter gave Bonna a little vase when she said good-bye. It broke the day Grandma died.Favourite Hobby: Favourite Hobby Bonna always loved to sew. She embroidered this jumper when she was fourteen.Fun With Friends: Fun With Friends Bonna enjoyed riding, biking, boating, and skiing with friends in her teen years.Happy Days in Victoria: Happy Days in Victoria She spent many summers in Victoria with her sister Lois and family. BonnaHigh School: High School Bonna graduated from Penticton High School. She attended every reunion until this year. BonnaNursing School: Nursing School Bonna had to send a photo to apply for Nursing School in Victoria. Her mother said this one was “too smiley”.
