What is “healing?” What are some of the ways that healing can happen? ANOINTING OF THE SICK : ANOINTING OF THE SICK Gifts of anointing : Gifts of anointing strength through the grace of the Holy Spirit closer union with the suffering Christ contribution to the holiness of the Church and preparation for the journey into everlasting life. Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. A Mature Person: : A Mature Person: can admit that he or she has a “shadow” side has psychological insights into the roots of our fear Is careful not to blame & “project” our shadow onto other people uses skillful methods to work with and transform core fears The Process : The Process Examination of conscience (before) Greeting & Sign of the Cross (how long) Confession of sins to Priest Priest gives Penitent a Penance (discuss) Penitent expresses sorrow (Act of contrition) Priest gives absolution Our anointing / forgiveness ritual : Our anointing / forgiveness ritual Choose partner Gather materials, find quiet space on floor, and settle into sacred space 1 person share stories and confessions, and determine what needs healing and/or forgiveness THEN SWITCH PARTNERS and repeat steps Then … Take turns verbalizing what you hear your partner confessing and needing. Write that prayer down on their handout.
