Mankapur , Gonda on Electronics Manufacturing Mayank Pratap Singh EC-4 th year GLAITM, MATHURA 1Introduction to ITI LTD.: Introduction to ITI LTD. India’s first Public Sector Unit (PSU) - ITI Ltd was established in 1948. Mankapur Plant of ITI Limited was established in 1982 for manufacturing the 1 st Electronic Switching System (E10B) Telecom equipments in collaboration with CIT-Alcatel, France. This Plant was established in the barren land spread over in 352 acres. The factory is constructed in 100 acres of land and associated Township area is 252 acres Start of production-1985. 2Cntd…: Cntd … Investment was Rs. 210.00 crores The first complete Exchange was provided to INDIA by ITI Mankapur Unit. Hence Mankapur was given the unique distinction of “Digital City of India” at that time. R&D upgraded the Technology and extended the product life cycle of E-10B from 1987 onwards. It has contributed to 50% of the present national telecom network. 3Slide 4: MANUFACTURING PLANTS SRINAGAR 1970 MANKAPUR 1983 NAINI 1971 PALAKKAD 1976 BANGALORE 1948 RAE BARELI 1973Main divisions of ITI Limited, Mankapur : Main divisions of ITI Limited, Mankapur Component Division - Where different circuit components are manufactured or stored if purchased from other sources. Circuit Division - It is the division where circuits are developed on the base material. It consists of Printed Circuit Board Plant and Hybrid Circuit Section. SEA (Switching Exchange Assembly) Division - It is the division where different circuit components are assembled on the PCB. New Products Division - It is the division where new products are manufactured, mainly the Surface Mount Technology. Central Services Division - It is the division which provides A.C facilities, water supplies, electricity supplies etc used in the factories. 5Products of ITI LTD. MANKAPUR: Products of ITI LTD. MANKAPUR BTS(Base Trans-Receiver Station : July, 2005 ) :- “BTS A-9100”, is radio frequency mobile communication product based on GSM technology. It is a set of equipments that facilitates wireless communication between user equipment (UE) and a network. C-DOT :- It is the India’s first own landline switching exchange given by ITI Mankapur , which can work at the temperature as high as 50ºC so ideal for rural areas where air conditioning is a big problem DIGITAL INVERTER :- Digital Inverter provides AC Output Voltage during mains AC failure for domestic purposes. This is backed up by a Battery which is automatically being maintained on regular basis on availability of AC mains. BTS SHELTER :- Shelter is a portable Sealed cabin made up of sandwiched insulated panels with polyurethane as filler material between galvanized pre-coated steel sheet. CURRENCY COUNTING MACHINE, FAKE NOTE DETECTOR etc. 6Slide 7: Electronics Manufacturing ProcessSlide 8: Organization approach the third party for some of the printed circuit board, as manufacturing of those PCBs is costly and takes a lot of time. They provide the circuit diagram to the third party for preparing the PCBs. Component mounting , soldering and testing is done at the unit.Surface Mount Technology: Surface Mount TechnologySMT Process: SMT Process Apply Glue Place components Place advanced components Apply solder paste and powder Heat the assembly Clean the assembly Testing of assembly Annealing of assemblySMT Machine: SMT MachineSlide 12: Wave Soldering ProcessSolder: Solder Tin lead alloy provides the best combination of the properties required in automated soldering for the printed circuit boards. Mostly used combination is Sn /Pb,63/37 Melting point is 179 0 C Availability in required size of bar. For manual soldering 2 or 3 core flux filled Solder wire in required gauge are available. Commonly used gauge is 18 SWGWave Solder Machine Layout: Wave Solder Machine LayoutWave Soldering Process: Wave Soldering ProcessIn Circuit Tester: In Circuit Tester A Step Towards Quality ProductLimitations of conventional manufacturing approach: Limitations of conventional manufacturing approach Low yield at functional tester. Higher rejection rate. Increase in Quality cost. Yield depends upon the quality of manufacturing process and visual inspection. Need of higher skill in troubleshooting of faulty assemblies.In-circuit test (ICT) Technique: In-circuit test (ICT) Technique An electrical probe tests a populated printed circuit board (PCB) for Short , Open Resistance Missing , wrong, damaged or improperly inserted components. Out of tolerance components. Incorrectly programmed components and faulty memory devices. Functional faults of devices. Timing measurements of on board clocks and other basic devices which will show whether the assembly is correctly fabricatedTesting Requirement: Testing Requirement In-circuit tester (GR2286).
