There are three different pronuntiations of -ed in regular past tense verbs:

–ed is pronounced as /t/ :

– ed is pronounced as /t/ When the last sound of the verb in infinitive is UNVOICED : /k/, /p/, /f/ / sh / (as in “ finish ”), /s/ and / ts / (as in “ reach ”)

–ed is pronounced as /d/ :

– ed is pronounced as /d/ When the last sound of the verb in infinitive is VOICED ( all the sounds except for the unvoiced sounds ) All vowels /b/ /g/ /v/, etc.

/id/ sound:

/id/ sound When the last sound of the verb in infinitive is : /t/ want-ed /d/ need-ed
