Premium member Presentation Transcript Slide 1: WM Streetgames Network Meeting 19 November 2010 Slide 2: Andy Stowe Streetgames …and a Community Games Organiser Slide 3: Inspired by the West Midlands’ unique Olympic heritage A chance for people inspired by London 2012 to connect with the Games The opportunity to showcase things that define a particular community – sport and culture Community Games Slide 4: Being defined and developed by the Community so that they benefit Staging a high quality event Attracting sufficient volunteers, participants, spectators and publicity Three elements to a successful Games Slide 5: Value - £17,021 over 3 years 2010 – 2013 Support 30 community groups to deliver 72 Community Games contributing to an overall WM target of 120,000 people engaged in the Games Contract Slide 6: So what is it all about? Promote and support Community Games Programme Provide mentoring support to organisers Slide 7: Working in partnership Liaise with sub-regional CSP Lead Officers for Community Games to determine priority locations, and agree community engagement co-ordinate provision of training / mentoring support Provide mentoring support for projects as identified and agreed within specific sub regions Slide 8: The story so far… Planning stages completed Resources produced Website Meetings with CSP leads 4 Community Games delivered in 2010 70 volunteers 1270 participants Slide 9: What does a games look like?
