The Stoke Approach: 

The Stoke Approach Grew from Closing the Gap A solution to address low levels of participation and high deprivation Growing importance of outreach in the new sport & physical activity strategy Volunteer heavy approach Strong partnerships (funding & delivery) Referral mechanism to address social exclusion Links to the county sports partnership Significant Political involvement / support

Delivery: 

Delivery 3,600 two hour sessions per annum - flexible at a local level At least 2,800 young people engaged At least 320 new volunteers aged 16+ At least 320 people benefiting from access to nationally accredited leadership training At least 40 people gaining employment as sports coaches / leaders Monitoring & evaluation built in from day one

Outcomes: 

Outcomes Reduced incidence of antisocial behaviour Improved health and wellbeing of participants Enhanced self esteem / self confidence for participants and volunteers Improved community cohesion Greater intergenerational understanding Increased employment prospects / opportunities for volunteers
