Matter is made up tiny particles called molecules. They are constantly moving. They are held together by a molecular force. When the molecules move faster as when they absorb heat they may be able to break away from the force that holds them together. When this happens molecules spread out in the air gaseous particles easily spread. Diffusion in liquid may be observed especially with colored solutes in water. Example dye in water. This ability to spread out readily is called diffusion. In this learning material matter you will find out what made up of matter, which states of matter easily diffused and which particles are constantly moving. :

The helped me to guess inside the box. How could the smell travelled to your nose? The smell travelled in my nose by means of . Analysis: 1. Why does the material inside the mystery box travelled in your nose Answer

Slide 10:

What developmental Analysis: How does the particle of matter move in the different phase of matter? Answer ______________________

Slide 11:

ASSESSMENT CARD Direction: Analyze the ff. substance to correctly identify the particles of matter. Keep your score high. You can make it to the top. Try me: Identify the ff. substance if it is in solid, liquid or gas and answer it if it is easily diffused or not. vinegar _________ __________ book _________ __________ smoke _________ __________ Acetone _________ __________ Kerosene ________ ____________ Student Notes: What I already know about this page? _________________ _________________ What I learned from this page _________________ _________________ What I still want to know about this page __________________ __________________

Slide 12:

How many items did you answer correctly in the assessment card. Look the answer. Keep at the last page for you to know your standing. If you got 5 – Congratulations. You are excellent learner. Proceed to the next page. 4-3 – You learned enough. Proceed to the next page 2 – You have little learning. Go back to the activities and review. 1-0 – Sorry you have learned nothing. Read more books then have another round later.

Enrichment Activity :

Enrichment Activity Students notesPut star on the box ___ I still do not understand the task___ Now I understand what the task is all about More About MatterWe use the phases of matter in referring to the particles nature of matter and diffusion which is the ability to spread out readily. Molecules is the smallest particle of a substance while atom is the smallest particle of matter. The Kinetic Molecular Model of matter describes matter as composed of particles which is constant random motion. This particle are separated by wide spaces.

REFERENCE CARD :

REFERENCE CARD Students Notes Review Notes for You Put a check on the box after studying the lesson: I fully understand the concepts and their application I partially understand the concepts and their application I still do not understand the concepts and their application. Complete the statement by filling in the space provided books in the reference that are available to me. Matter is made up of tiny particles or substance called molecules. Solid is compact compressed and not free from moving. Liquid is free from moving. It is a solution. Gas – is easily diffused they are constantly moving. Diffusion – is the ability to spread out readily.

E. Assumptions :

E. Assumptions Kinetic molecular model of matter describe matter is composed of particles w/c is constand random motion. Read more: Science and Tech I for Modern World by Rabago Integrated Science by Villami Science & Tech III Updated Edition

Answer Key :

Answer Key Activity Card I The material inside the mystery box travelled in the nose because of the odor spread out in the air that is the gaseous particles. Matter is made up of tiny particles called molecules. The air gaseous particles easily spread out.

Activity 2 :

Activity 2 The particles move constant random motion in gas phase while in solid they are compact but in liquid phase they are free for moving. Assessment Card: Liquid – not so easily diffuse Solid – not easily diffuse Gas – easily diffuse Gas – easily diffuse Liquid – not so easily diffuse
