Criterion Reference Test (CRT) Overview - 2008:

Criterion Reference Test (CRT) Overview - 2008 Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 must complete the CRT. This assessment counts toward our Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP). All materials will be distributed and collected everyday. You must sign your materials out each day. There are six different versions of the test. There will be a mix of the different versions throughout every classroom, with the exception of special education. Test books will be numbered. Students must work with the same test book everyday.

Criterion Reference Test (CRT) Overview - 2008:

Criterion Reference Test (CRT) Overview - 2008 Questions are in multiple choice format. Students in grade 5 will complete some constructed response items. Special education students whose IEP accommodations allow for testing in the resource room will test with their resource room teacher. Please keep close proximity to students during the test. Refrain from sitting behind your desk, or grading papers during the test. This behavior sends students the message that this is not an important assessment. Walk around and report unusual conduct or cheating to Mrs. Marlowe or Mrs. Kadlub. Collect answer sheets and test booklets from each individual student at the end of every testing session to ensure all materials are accounted for.

Criterion Reference Test (CRT) Overview - 2008:

Criterion Reference Test (CRT) Overview - 2008 You must cover important information on your walls that may assist students during the test. Important information includes multiplication charts, alphabet charts, graphic organizers, definitions, etc. Word walls WITHOUT definitions do not have to be covered. Answer sheets will be pre coded. Do NOT allow students to bubble their information on a blank answer sheet. To ensure accuracy and neatness, the classroom teacher must input student information on all blank answer sheets. Do not use the answer sheet of a withdrawn student with any other student. We will use our tutors as testing proctors for the CRT. Proctors will be trained on how to maintain test security during the administration of the CRT.

CRT “QUICK TIPS”:

CRT “QUICK TIPS” CRT All students must participate in testing. Do Not bubble in any data on the answer sheet unless you have been directed by a test coordinator to bubble in information. Have students write their names on their test booklets- they may also write in them. Highlighters and sticky notes may be used if they have been part of the normal instructional practice in the classroom. No calculators or dictionaries are to be used. Read from script- no extra assistance can be given. While students are testing, walk the room, students are to be monitored at all times. Students who finish tests early may sit at their desks and read. Only teachers should be handling the testing materials- students should never be in the hallways or moving to another setting with the materials in their hands.

CRT “QUICK TIPS”:

CRT “QUICK TIPS” Whenever you leave the room make sure all testing materials are collected and locked in a secure drawer or cabinet. The CRT is designed with the recommendation that students may take one section of a content-area test per day. Testing will occur in the mornings. Check Out booklets every day by 8:45 A.M. All testing materials (including scratch paper) must be returned by 1:00 P. M. with the answer sheet inside of the front cover of test booklet. Keep a list of all students who need make-ups (see attached handout). Before the final turn in, review all the answer sheets to make sure they have been cleaned up (i.e. no stray marks on the paper, bubbles are dark). Make the administration aware of any testing irregularity.
