Classification of literature IMAGINATIVE (Literature of Power) literature includes poems, short stories, novels, and plays ( Zulueta , 2005). It interprets human experience by presenting fictitious persons, incidents, or situations- not based on true events.

Suggestiveness – it must evoke emotional responses from the reader. Performance – it must endure the test of time. It can be read over and over. Universality – it must appeal to human emotion, regardless of time and race.

Provides relaxation, leisure, and recreation. Connects the young to their past and to the roots of specific cultures, natural heritage, and general human condition.
