South’s Economy : 

South’s Economy Eli Whitney invented cotton gin in 1793 Separated seeds from cotton, so the demand of slaves increased Plantations moved to a one crop plantation Cheaper labor meant more slaves South was a one crop economy It depended on cotton and slaves Found on Google

North’s Economy : 

North’s Economy Based on industry more than agriculture Bought cotton and turned it in to finished goods Focused on city life Society evolved around people Different cultures and classes had to work together Two major economic differences between the North and the South

Southern States Problems : 

Southern States Problems South Carolina secedes in 1860 A second government emerges in south Delaware did not consider to secede South called themselves The Confederate States of America 11 states seceded Found on Google

Northern States Problems : 

Northern States Problems In 1860 the South attacked Fort Sumter Fort Sumter is in Charleston, South Carolina under control of North Sumter was on low supply and South demanded surrender Delaware, Kentucky, Missouri, and Maryland Did not secede Were not completely loyal to the Union or the Confederates
