Slide 3:

INTRODUCTION: Digital speedometer cum odometer is a microcontroller based project. Measures the speed and distance travelled by a moving vehicle. More reliable, accurate and flexible than the manual systems.

Slide 5:

ADVANTAGES OF THIS PROJECT: It is INDIGENOUS. If the speedometer assembly fails ,the reinstallation charges will be around Rs: 2300 /- Ex: Speedometer assembly (DJ141060) : Rs 2000 /- Speed sensor cable (DJ201144) : Rs 300 /- The cost of our project is Rs 800 /- . Thus we can save around 65% of the money we spend on it.

Slide 9:

Working of Opto Coupler

Slide 10:

Liquid Crystal Display Displays the speed and distance measured. Gets data from the EEPROM via microcontroller.

Slide 11:

PIC CONTROLLER FEATURES: It has 32 Kb program memory,2 Kb data memory It has 4 timers I2C mode for serial communication

Slide 12:

OSCCON : to set the internal oscillator frequency i.e. (8MHz) T0CON : to count the external pulses T1CON : to create a delay of 1 sec by providing interrupt SSPCON1,SSPCON2 : these are used in the I2C operation SSPBUF : to store and retrieve data REGISTERS USED IN PIC CONTROLLER :

Slide 13:

AT24C1024 EEPROM: It stores the distance travelled. It is interfaced to PIC using I2C mode.

Slide 14:

CALCULATIONS: Circumference of the wheel = 2∏r (where ‘r’ is in cm) = 2×3.14×30 = 188.4 cm or 1.884 meters For speed lets assume that in 1 second the wheel completes one revolution i.e. it covered 1.88 meters therefore the speed in km/hour N×1.88×3600/1000 = N×6.8 where N is number of pulses per second
