Storyboard for Vodcast “Super Simple Scrapbooking”

Title Screen :

Title Screen Title: “Super Simple Scrapbooking” Title will “paint drip” in to position on screen with music playing Music fades out as scene moves to craft room

Set :

Set Vodcast will be set in a craft room with materials present and ready to go. Presentation will be by moderately experienced scrapbook maker Manda Voth.

Scene 1: Introduction :

Scene 1: Introduction Vodcast will start with an introduction to “Super Simple Scrapbooking.” With a purpose statement. “Welcome to ‘Super Simple Scrapbooking’ a vodcast for those of you who don’t have time to make an elaborate scrapbook page but want to do more with your photographs than to just toss them in a boring album.”

Scene 2: Materials :

Scene 2: Materials “When making a scrapbook, the page doesn’t have to have a lot fancy doo-dads to make it look nice. With a handful of materials from your local craft or discount store – you can make a nice scrapbook page of your memories. I like to get a package of paper in various shades of the same color – such a light and dark greens for a page of Girl Scout memories. You will also need double stick tape or an acid-free glue stick, paper trimmer, and stickers if you wish. I like to use alphabet stickers to add a little pizzazz as well as they are neater than my own handwriting for scrapbook page titles.”

Scene 2: Materials Continued :

Scene 2: Materials Continued “A clean, flat surface is helpful as well. I like to put a firm, plastic mat down to smooth out the surface I’m working on. It also helps to protect my surface from glue residue as well as protects the back of my page from getting dirty.”

Scene 3: Getting Started :

Scene 3: Getting Started “Before you get started, select a solid dark background color to contrast with a lighter color later on to use as borders to your photographs. You will also need to select the photographs you wish to use. The number of photographs will depend on the size of photograph you are using. Remember! You don’t want to overcrowd your page. Make sure you have your materials at hand. It helps to be organized!” Will show organized work space with materials.

Scene 4: Layout :

Scene 4: Layout “I like to lay out my photographs and if I’m using them – stickers on my page to see how it looks first and to see how well my photographs fit. I will use about a ¼ inch border on my photographs so I keep that in mind. If the page appears too crowded – I will crop my photos to make them fit which will be our next step.” Will demonstrate layout of page as speaking.

Scene 5: Cropping and Background Paper Cropping :

Scene 5: Cropping and Background Paper Cropping “Once I’ve chosen my photos and my layout – I take my paper cutter and crop my photo to just what is important. If there’s a lot of empty/boring space – it goes! I then take my double stick tape and run it over the back of my photograph. I eyeball about ¼ of an inch from the edge of the paper I’m using as a border and stick the photo down to it. Next, I use the paper cutter to get the other two edges.” Will demonstrate cropping of photos and background paper.

Scene 6: Stickers and Page Layout :

Scene 6: Stickers and Page Layout “We are super close to being done, next, take the stickers you want to use for your title these can go where ever you want – have fun with it! I’m putting mine in the middle. I will put more double stick tape this time on the back of the photos with the background edges. Then, I’ll place those photos around the title.” Will demonstrate placement of stickers and photos with backgrounds around the title on the page.

Scene 7: Final Touches :

Scene 7: Final Touches “A nice final touch is to add a little bit of journaling next to your photographs. It helps remind you of the events in the photos and the good times you had.” Will demonstrate journaling a photograph. Rascal P. Ferret and I together in a photo taken on my cell phone. We sent the picture to Kyle while he was out of town at training.

Next Episode :

Next Episode “On the next episode of “Super Simple Scrapbooking” we’ll look at how to turn a family photo into a memorable Father’s or Mother’s Day card!”
