Intel CORPORATION Presented By: Anamika Lad (80) Reetesh Yadav (98) Dhaval Patil (00)

Slide 3:

Introduction

Slide 4:

Intel is the world's largest semiconductor chip maker. The company is the inventor of the x86 series of microprocessors, the processors found in most personal computers. SRAM and DRAM memory chips.

Slide 5:

Intel also makes motherboard chipsets, network interface controllers and integrated circuits, flash memory, graphic chips, embedded processors, and other devices related to communications and computing. Intel is a microprocessor manufacturing company and is the market leader in the microprocessor industry .

Our Vision :

Our global workforce possesses a unique set of experiences and abilities that have been critical to our success. And their passion for innovation has helped us maintain our role as a technology leader. We must therefore respect the viewpoints of all our people and honor the values of discipline, quality, and risk-taking that our company was built on. Our Vision

ORIGINS AND EARLY YEARS :

July 18, 1968, as Integrated Electronics Corp. and is based in Santa Clara, California, USA. INTegrated ELectronics intel ORIGINS AND EARLY YEARS

Slide 8:

Intel was founded by Gordon E. Moore (a chemist and physicist) and Robert Noyce (a physicist and co-inventor of the integrated circuit) when they left Fairchild Semiconductor.

Slide 9:

Intel's third employee was Andy Grove, a chemical engineer, who ran the company through much of the 1980s and the high-growth 1990s. Intel's "Intel Inside" advertising campaign of the 1990s made it and its Pentium processor household names.

About Processor :

CPU - Central Processing Unit brains of the computer. It is the most important component in determining how fast or 'snappy' the system will operate across application The processor can be fast, slow, power hungry or power efficient subject to the kind of work the computer is being considered for both now and in the near future. About Processor

Slide 20:

Unlike other components of a notebook computer, the CPU is -- with rare exception -- a fixed component. The current performance and market leader is Intel, which is the only processor available in all current Apple computers (Macbook, Macbook Pro, Mini, iMac etc.). Intel's most current crop of CPUs are the Core i3, Core i5, and Core i7.

Corporate Affairs :

In September 2009 , Intel had nearly 100,000 employees and 200 facilities worldwide. Its revenue is $ 38.5 billion. Its Fortune 500 ranking is 49th. Its stock symbol is INTC. Corporate Affairs

Customers Of intel :

Hewlett-Packard Dell Philips medical MUSICMATCH Inc. University of Oxford Microsoft Corporation Yahoo Customers Of intel

Customers of intel (Contd.) :

On June 6, 2005 APPLE CEO Steve Jobs announced that, Apple would be transitioning from its Power PC architecture to Intel architecture. The first Macintosh computers containing Intel CPUs were announced on January 10, 2006. Customers of intel (Contd.)

Competitors :

AMD (Advanced Micro Devices ) Competitors

Segmentation strategy :

Segmentation strategy

Slide 26:

They were catering their high performance Xeon processors for companies using servers and high end computing. Pentium processor for retail consumers. Celeron processors for low end consumers who want PCs for connecting to internet. (The first two segments were giving the maximum revenue but Intel continued with the third segment in order to compete with AMD in lower segment.)

Intel Features :

Hyper Threading Turbo Boost Intel QuickPath Interconnect (QPI) Execute Disable Bit vPro ViiV technology Intel Features

Hyper Threading :

The operating system treats the processor as two processors instead of one. This increases the speed of the computer. Pentium 4, Core i7, Core i5, Core i3(Processors Using Feature) Hyper Threading

Turbo Boost :

Allows the processor to intelligently overclock themselves so long as thermal and electrical requirements are still met. Core i7, Core i5(Processors Using Feature) Turbo Boost

Intel Quick Path Interconnect (QPI) :

A new Intel technology which replaced Front Side Bus (FSB) -- similar in purpose to AMD's competing Hyper Transport technology. Implemented in some fashion in all Intel core iX series processors.(Processors Using Feature) Intel Quick Path Interconnect (QPI)

Execute Disable Bit :

Prevents certain viruses from infecting the system by labeling some data "executable." Current Intel processors(Processors Using Feature) Execute Disable Bit

vPro :

Best for IT people trying to maintain several workstations. It is able to detect systems, even in powered-off states. Synchronizes remote desktop, security, and other multi-station support features. Decreases desk-side maintenance visits. Core Duo, Core 2 Duo (Processors Using Feature) vPro

ViiV technology :

Intel's bundle for enhancing multimedia. Supports HD resolutions 720p up to 1080p. Pentium D, Extreme, Core Duo, Core 2: Duo, Extreme, Quad.(Processors Using Feature) ViiV technology
