Predicate nominatives and predicate adjectives rename or describe the SUBJECT. Example: Lester is a friend of mine. “friend” renames the subject, “Lester” “Friend” is a predicate nominative Ansley is very beautiful. “beautiful” describes “Ansley” Beautiful is a predicate adjective

PNs and PAs MUST follow a ___________ verb. LINKING You can decide whether to use PN and PA or DO and IO by following these steps. Step #1 Remove the prepositional phrases Step #2 Find the verb Step #3 Decide whether the verb is action or linking. If it is action, choose DO/IO If it is linking, choose PN/PA
