You can also embed (place) your search engine on any school site or your class blog Why can’t I just use a normal search engine?

Slide 5:

You will have to do your research before hand. Make a list of all the sites that you would like to be included in your search engine! You can restrict the search to just one page!! For a Single page/document to be searched, use the page exact url egwww.mysite.com/mypage.html (the last part of the URL address will have a file name (.pdf; .htm ; .doc…) Or you can search across an entire site… Entire sites: Add /* onto the addresseg www.mysite.com/* will include all the pages on www.mysite.com Examples:www.factmonster.com/ *www.kidsclick.org/* Include the site Url in your list, 1 Url address per line It might be a good idea to first type your list of web addresses in a text editor

Slide 6:

You can even restrict the search to certain parts of a website Parts of sites: Use wildcard patterns to include just certain parts of a site. Eg www.mysite.com/*about* will include only files on www.mysite.com that have about in their name. Entire domains: You can also specify an entire domain using *.mydomain.com./* If you specify mydomain.com, it will automatically be converted to *.mydomain.com/*. Include the site Url in your list, 1 Url address per line
