FUTURE OF THE GAMING INDUSTRY With its net worth growing by billions of dollars every year the Gaming and Animation Industry has transformed not only the world of Entertainment but also the Business world. It has managed to infliate almost every household in the developing world and has reached people of every age group. Take a moment to imagine someone playing a video game. What did you think of Adolescent boys shouting at the TV as they play frst person shooters on the Xbox A young woman balancing on the Wii Fit doing yoga No How about widespread global virtual teams learning key organizational and leadership skills on a MMORPG Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game DFC Intelligence has predicted that global revenue from video game software will grow from 52 billion in 2011 to 70 billion in 2017. This growth of revenue is split three ways between PCs with 39 game console systems with 36 and mobile devices with 25. Games also present information in a way that directly forces engagement from the user by using multiple visual and auditory modes simultaneously which capitalizes on diferent learning styles. Nowadays companies are integrating game mechanics and game-based learning into more and more everyday applications also fundamentally changing the way we work. Video games are widely used in a variety of disciplines such as behaviour modifcation autism therapy leadership skill building and strategic analysis by a number of organizations and institutions. The Post-Graduate Diploma PGD is designed to enable students to excel in Game Design through a strong foundation in the basics of designing creating and publishing interactive games. This programme also provides a comprehensive education in multimedia software skills and project expertise required in the Game industry. By using programming tools and the latest software students will be able to create market-driven games and consider critical business elements in their games design and development projects. Our industry driven modules would give them a competitive edge over their peers. PROGRAMME OBJECTIVE MODULE OUTLINE GD301 - Game Design and Documentation This module involves training students in the important processes and methodologies that are required in games development. Game design concepts will comprise of Level Design Character Design and Game Balance. The studies will involve the detail understanding of the diferent game genres their characteristics games development namely the initial concept the treatment detailed design document and the use of software engineering tools and concepts. PROGRAMME LAYOUT The Post-Graduate Diploma consists of 8 Modules which can be completed in 9 Months on a Full-Time or Part-Time basis. Applicants must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree and a passion for creation a love of media and entertainment and willingness to strive for good results or a Diploma from a recognized higher institution of learning with at least 2 years of relevant experience. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS GD303 - Storyboard and Character Drawing This module provides training on digital drawing tools and story and concept development for games. Students will be required to research for game stories develop a game concept and illustrate with proper storyboard for visuals on the entire game play. Students will learn to include and illustrate the diferent interactive and media such as buttons audio and animation that are required in the game. GD302 - Graphics and Sound Editing Students will be taught the diferent fle formats compression and their uses for the diferent game platforms and engines. Graphic editing tools will be used to learn editing 2D animation creation concepts game sprites and theories and concepts of audio fles. Audio editing tools will be introduced and familiarized for students to become competent in creating and handling sound fles. GD304 - 3D Character Design and Animation This module will train students on the principles and practices of character design and development. Studies include the conceptual development the appreciation of character aesthetics and training on psychological social and physiological characteristics that contribute to the appearance of characters in the game. Study on diferent character development tools for 2D and 3D character design. GD305 - C Programming and 3D Game Development This module will provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to develop C applications the C programme structure language syntax and implementation details. Study includes Statements and Exceptions Methods and Parameters and Arrays and the use of Object-Oriented Programming OOP. Game engine that uses C interface will be introduced to students. Students will experience the development of games with C game engine. GD306 - Mobile Games Development In this module students will study the issues and concerns that are related to online games development. Focus will be given to design considerations for mobile games that are important in wireless transmission. Topics will include technologies quality of service ethics commercial Issues game engines and game testing that is used for mobile game development. GD309 - Final Year Project Succeeding as project leader requires that developer must complete the projects on time fnish within budget and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction. Students are expected to monitor all aspects of the project ensure that proper knowledge and resources are harnessed to create the desired outcome in a timely cost-efective manner. This practical and hands-on project expertly distill knowledge from studies and put it to the test in a simulated real world production cycle as students follow the game creation from its inception to completion. GD307 - Multiplayer Games Development The online gaming section of the course will give particular focus to Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games MMORPGs a particularly widely played type of online game. The module will aim to give students practical experience of developing aspects of both online and mobile games through a mixture of writing small applications and using appropriate tools.

HOW TO APPLY FEE STRUCTURE MAGES adopts a Fee Protection Scheme FPS to protect the paid fees of both local and international students. The FPS serves to protect the student’s fees in the event that the PEI is unable to continue operations due to insolvency and/or regulatory closure. In addition the FPS protects the student if the PEI fails to pay penalties or return fees to the student arising from judgments made against it by the Singapore courts. The FPS is compulsory for all students and is available in 2 forms either ESCROW or Insurance Protection Scheme. MAGES has adopted the ESCROW scheme. For more information visit www.mages.edu.sg. MAGES has appointed The Development Bank of Singapore Limited DBS as the FPS Escrow Provider. Under the FPS escrow scheme students will pay their fees directly to DBS. DBS will act as the custodian of students’ fees and will only disburse the fees to MAGES on a fxed schedule. Again in case of events as stated above students will be able to retrieve their unconsumed fees from DBS. FEE PROTECTION SCHEME Established under the Private Education Act the Council for Private Education CPE is a statutory board empowered with the legislative power to regulate the private education sector. The Enhanced Registration Framework ERF as set out under the Private Education Act and the Private Education Regulations spells out the mandatory registration requirements and legislative obligations which all private education institutions operating in and from Singapore must meet. Under EduTrust Certifcation Scheme regulated by the Council for Private Education CPE MAGES has put in place some mandatory requirements namely PEI – Student Contract Fee Protection Scheme FPS and Medical Insurance Coverage. TRANSFER WITHDRAWAL DEFERMENT REFUND POLICY STANDARD STUDENT CONTRACT The aim of the new quality assurance EduTrust is to enhance the confdence of students and their parents in the quality of education in Singapore. MAGES Institute of Excellence will enter a standard PEI-Student Contract with the student. The contract lays out the important terms and conditions governing the relationship between students and MAGES. Minimum features / coverage for our medical insurance are: - Annual Limit not less than S20000 per student - At least B2 ward in government and restructured hospitals - 24 hours coverage in Singapore and overseas if student is involved in school-related activities.
