The Mehntaa Legacy - Interlude

Slide 2: 

It had only been a matter of time before the headmaster was invited to the Bertino household, considering that the children had a Knowledge sim and a Fortune sim for parents.

Slide 3: 

Orlando got a bit worried when the twins broached their favorite subject, marriage and family in general.

Slide 4: 

However, the headmaster was impressed by children who planned their lives so far in advance, and they were easily admitted into private school.

Slide 5: 

They enjoyed their new school well enough, although Riley constantly complained about having to wear a skirt, just because she was a girl.

Slide 6: 

Orlando had always enjoyed watching the starry sky, but one night he was met with a surprise.

Slide 7: 

A bright spotlight came over him, and with a cry he shielded his eyes from the blinding light.

Slide 8: 

In less than a second he realized he’d need his hands for other things.

Slide 9: 

Though he clenched the telescope with both hands, his body was lifted from the ground. He couldn’t help but remember his sleeping children, and tried to scream quietly, then decided that kind of defeated the purpose.

Slide 10: 

“AAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Slide 11: 

He was yelling at the top of his lungs, his entire body now vertical.

Slide 12: 

He felt his sweaty hands slipping, his grip loosening.

Slide 13: 

Lia and Charles arrived just in time to see their beloved husband and father disappearing into the sky. While Lia was worried and knew Orlando was frightened, she knew that as a Knowledge sim he would undoubtably be glad for this experience in the end.

Slide 14: 

This thought comforted her slightly as the alien ship vanished in the sky.

Slide 15: 

Then she, Charles, and her friend from work created a choreography to show others exactly what had happened.

Slide 16: 

Or maybe they were just reacting in sync to the abduction.

Slide 17: 

Lia sent Charles to bed, then waited in the yard all night for her beloved husband.

Slide 19: 

Before dawn, Orlando was unceremoniously dumped from the space craft towards his house.

Slide 20: 

He landed with a loud thud, barely missing the mailbox with his head.

Slide 22: 

For several nights after that experience, Lia had trouble falling asleep at night, and when she did sleep she had terrible nightmares about aliens.

Slide 23: 

Her distraction pleased the children very much, and they took advantage of it at every opportunity.

Slide 24: 

Especially since Orlando had been sick lately.

Slide 25: 

Orlando stayed home from work, and was supposed to keep an eye on little Louie.

Slide 26: 

He was having a bit of trouble keeping his eyes open at all.

Slide 27: 

“Where am I?! Oh, yeah, I must have passed out in my food. Again.”

Slide 28: 

“Dada!”

Slide 29: 

“Dada?”

Slide 30: 

The twins continued to enjoy their free reign over the house, although it didn’t always have advantages.

Slide 31: 

“What are we going to eat when we’re out of cereal?” “I don’t know, but the school bus is here and we’re not ready yet!” “Again?! But teacher said she’d give us detention if we were late again this week!”

Slide 32: 

Orlando soon discovered the cause of his illness, surprising everyone with the first real alien male pregnancy Fantasy Forest had seen for decades.

Slide 33: 

“So, uh, Li, we’re gonna have another baby!” he admitted nervously. “But I’m not pregnant!” slowly her eyes slid towards her husbands swollen belly. “Oh...”

Slide 34: 

Riley and Charles didn’t mind why their parents were acting the way they were, as long as they could still do whatever they wanted.

Slide 35: 

They couldn’t help but hope it would last until their teen years.

Slide 36: 

Louis, however, was too young to enjoy the lack of attention he was getting. Soon enough, though, his birthday came along.

Slide 37: 

His daddy was eager to help him blow out the candles, before passing out again.

Slide 38: 

Louis was a big boy, though, and could blow out his own candles.

Slide 39: 

Being bigger was always fun, though.

Slide 40: 

Now he could play with the big kids, although the friend his siblings had brought home from school for him was much more interested in talking than playing.

Slide 41: 

Eventually it got a bit late, and Demi’s replacement Caryl Bruenig stopped by.

Slide 42: 

No one could figure out quite why she was there, until Caryl announced she had to take her little cousin Marsha home.

Slide 43: 

A few nights later Orlando felt a strange pain come over him.

Slide 44: 

It seemed to come from his stomach, and he realized it must be the baby.

Slide 45: 

“LLLIIIIIIAAAAA!!!!!!!!”

Slide 46: 

His wife arrived just in time, along with that penchant of hers for smiling in the most inappropriate situations.

Slide 47: 

Orlando gave birth to a lovely baby boy named Soleil.

Slide 48: 

It was love at first sight for the odd father and son.

Slide 49: 

He held out the child for Lia to see. She, also, fell immediately in love with this strange baby.

Slide 50: 

She decided to take the baby to the hospital with her, to make sure he was healthy.

Slide 51: 

Author’s note: I was so scared they would glitch up and be lost for eternity! Thankfully, they did get back home safely.

Slide 52: 

The next few days were a flurry of activity, including a visit from the headmaster to enroll Louis, during which the children had to do all the work since both parents were at work.

Slide 53: 

Then Lia decided she wanted to have a nice family portrait. They all wore their best clothes, and hired a professional photographer.

Slide 54: 

Of course, some things Lia had no control over.

Slide 55: 

So here concludes this lovely interlude, with this conversation. *Crash* Charles: What was that?! Riley: Oh, just Mae’s game dying, nothing serious... *headdesk* Yeah, it’s true, but no worries!
