Author’s note :

Author’s note Yes, I’m starting a new legacy. Am I crazy? Probably. This does not mean I won’t continue the Mehntaa Legacy. However, a Legacy of Hope was the first legacy I ever played (the original family is lost to history) and it’s special to me, so I resurrected it.

Slide 3:

Lydia Donovan was well known, and not for her high position in society, or for her wealth. No, she was known for something else entirely. The kind of something that kept tongues wagging.

Slide 4:

It wouldn’t have been so bad if Lydia had been single. Though she had kept her own last name, Lydia was married to Charles Tamarack, a well known banker. Lydia’s first choice was never marriage, but in this case it increased her fortune, and that was enough for her.

Slide 5:

Though they kept it together in front of the cameras and crowds, Lydia and Charles weren’t happy together. Not at all. The only way they managed to keep living as a married couple was because they both knew it would benefit them in the long run.

Slide 6:

Then Lydia turned out to be pregnant. The only reason she didn’t abort was she knew that the press would find out. She gave birth to twin girls. She named the oldest Joy. She was Lydia’s pride and... well, joy. Lydia named the youngest Hope. I was simply a disappointment, and Lydia promtly forgot about me.

Slide 7:

Joy was everything Lydia wanted in a daughter. She was pretty, charming and loved material things. Most importantly, she could pass for Charles’s daughter.

Slide 8:

I, however, was a stumbling dolt who looked nothing like Charles, confirming the fact that we were not his daughters. Instead of hating me, like most men in his position would have, he became my first and only friend.

Slide 9:

But I was not allowed even that little bit of happiness. Lydia was fed up with Charles, and kicked him out of his own house.

Slide 10:

I couldn’t believe it when Charles simply walked out. He gave me a long look that conveyed all sorts of messages, then walked down the stairs and disappeared into the horizon while I watched, tears blurring my vision.

Slide 11:

As soon as I could, I ran down those same steps and went far away from home. Or rather, the house I had grown up in. Nothing about it was home, I had always felt uncomfortable and unwanted with Lydia.

Slide 12:

To make a long story short, I had found my biological father’s family. He didn’t want me any more than Lydia did, but he had a sister, my Aunt Eleonora, who had taken me in.

Slide 13:

So, here I am. I saved up my money for years and bought a tiny island for myself and my future family. New Beginning Island, a perfect name. I would found a legacy, my own legacy of hope.

Slide 14:
