Factors leading to world war 1:

Factors leading to world war 1 by Maddie Dintino and Chaz Lazo

Militarism:

Militarism Each European country was strengthening their armed forces and that had each of the other countries worried about possible war.

Militarism The Germans were worried about Russia’s growing army and did not want them to invade.

Militarism In Response Germany built their army as well.

Alliances The Triple Entente The Triple Alliance Each country figured it would have a better chance at winning any possible war if they teamed up

Colonies in Africa Countries were already fighting for territory in Africa, and since Germany didn’t have many colonies there were tensions between them and the others.

Tensions between Austria and Serbia:

Tensions between Austria and Serbia As the Ottoman Empire declined states were breaking off and declaring independence. Other countries wanted some of this land. For example, Austria-Hungary was very interested in taking over Serbia. The Serbians knew this and were able to resist any hostile take over due to the rise of nationalism. This lead to increased tension between these nations.

Assassination of Arch Duke Franz Ferdinand:

Assassination of Arch Duke Franz Ferdinand A Serbian assassin killed the future ruler of Austria Archduke Franz Ferdinand. Then when Austria said you have 30 days to allow us to search your country for other terrorists or we declare war. Serbia Refused. This was basically the start of the war because then with Austria’s military becoming a threat Germany freaked out and also declared war.
