Bay of Fundy/Tidal Power :

Bay of Fundy/Tidal Power By: Maddy Ledesma (:

Ocean Tides :

Ocean Tides What is ocean tides? Ocean tides are tides that rises and falls of sea level. They are made by the mixed effect of rotation of the Earth and the gravitation of the Moon and the Sun. The tides happen approximately 12 and a half hours. http://www.bayoffundy.com/aboutthebay.aspx

Bay of Fundy :

Bay of Fundy What is the Bay of Fundy? The Bay of Fundy is located on northern coast of Maine and extending into Canada between New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Many tourists all over the world come to this place because it makes the highest tides in the world. http://www.bayoffundy.com/aboutthebay.aspx

Why the Bay of Fundy? :

Why the Bay of Fundy? Why is the Bay of Fundy a special example of ocean tides? Tides along the Atlantic coast are semi-diurnal, which means there are two of the same high tides every 24 hours. Along the Nova Scotia Atlantic coast, the tidal range is 1.5m - 2.5m (4 - 8 ft). Tidal measurements in the Minas Basin are the highest in the world reaching at 16m (53 ft). http://www.bayoffundy.com/tides.aspx

Tidal Power :

Tidal Power What is tidal power as an alternative energy source? tidal power sometimes called tidal energy is a making of hydropower that changes the energy of tides into electricity or other different useful forms of power. http://www.alternative-energy-news.info/technology/hydro/tidal-power/

Pros of Tidal Power :

Pros of Tidal Power Pros of tidal power as an alternative energy are; Tidal power is free once its built because tidal power harnesses the natural power of tides. The tides goes in and out twice a day usually at the predicted times. Tidal energy is renewable, because nothing is used with rising of tides.

Cons of Tidal Power :

Cons of Tidal Power Cons of tidal power as an alternative energy are; it only provides power for 10 hours each day. The barrage construction can touch on the transportation system. Boats may not be able to cross the barrage, and many other ships. Maximum energy is limited to 2.5 terawatts.

Tidal Power in the Bay :

Tidal Power in the Bay The Bay of Fundy has the largest tides in the world with a difference of as much as 48 feet between low tide and high tide. The bigger the difference, the more energy can be gained from the change. http://www.bayoffundy.com/aboutthebay.aspx
