AMERICAN GEORGIAN PERIOD 1720-1790 As the wealthy population were grew in the coloniest,people sought styles based on the English Georgian periods. Skilled American cabinet maker originally from England be gain to reproduce English style by copying from imported models &design books. Boston, Newport, Newyork & Philadelphia emerged as design centers with their own furniture design. Few craftsmen in the colonies were paint experts so new sets of fashionable colors were popularized. By using milk or buttermilk, some lime, and native earth pigments they created some very interesting and sometimes beautiful colors. Prussian blue, red lead, vermilion, and verdigris." Georgian room has a heavy, bold, grand look, These pieces, while bold and having presence are graceful in their own way.
