Laughter brought forth a band of elves to remove the changeling. One of the most prevailing German myths is that of the Lorelei. Positioned at a historically treacherous turn along the muddy water of the Rhine River, the Lorelei rock monument sits high above the river and rests as a stone reminder of this legendary German tale. According to folklore, the Lorelei was a beautiful young maiden who spent each sunny day sitting upon a rock high above the rugged terrain of the water below. As she sat she sang and combed her shining golden hair. Mesmerized by her beautiful song and entranced by the glimmer of her golden locks, boatmen below ran their ships along the rocks beneath the surface of the deep water sending themselves, their crew and their vessels to despair or worse, an untimely demise.
