The history of Music in London:

The history of Music in London

PowerPoint Presentation:

London has a diverse and unique history of music and is a must visit city for anyone with an interest in the music industry. Whether you want to visit the home of Bob Marley or see the latest music venue in the form of the 02 Arena, you won’t be disappointed with a trip to the capital city. Of course, decades of being at the centre of some of the biggest musical fads, means that narrowing down the attractions you can see in London was incredibly difficult. Depending on the style of music you enjoy can vastly influence the type of attraction you would be interested in; those with a love of the opera probably wouldn’t appreciate a recommendation to visit the Abbey Road studios, for example!

PowerPoint Presentation:

If you have a very specific interest, there are walking tours which can be booked such as the London Rock Music History tour which is a three hour tour, visiting some of London’s most iconic musical landmarks. You can see where rock artists signed contracts, recorded famous albums and the locations of other, perhaps more memorable occurrences and mishaps as well. This particular tour covers the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, but there are other music tours as well such as a theatre walking tour and one which is solely dedicated to the Beatles as well.

PowerPoint Presentation:

The theatre walking tour would be the ideal addition to anyone who had a love of the stage and was coming into the capital city to visit a show. You could watch the show on one day and then take the tour, learning a bit more about the rich history of the theatre and how it has contributed to the bustling city of London throughout the years.

PowerPoint Presentation:

Of course, a lot of London’s music history is focussed around decades past, particularly around bands such as The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd and Elton John, which might not be to everyone’s taste. If you are more interested in contemporary and current music then there is still much to see in London. You might wish to indulge in a bit of celebrity spotting in which case check out Parliament Hill and Hampstead Heath which are popular spots with some well known celebrities. Alternatively, you could create your own walking tour and visit places such as Kylie Minogue’s London home in Kensington, or the place where Adele wrote her award winning debut album (294 Norwood Road, for anyone wondering!)

PowerPoint Presentation:

Better yet, why not turn your love of music into a weekend break? This is ideal if you want to book a concert to see your favourite band at one of the many music venues in the capital city but also want to spend some time embracing the musical culture as well. There are a number of Westminster luxury hotels which would be ideal for a short break in the city. London also has a number of open air music events running throughout the summer months, everything from the BBC Proms to Party in the Park which takes place in Hyde Park each year.
