Train staff in environmental and analytical chemistry 3. Demonstrate and document capabilities in areas with high commercial potential and market development priorityInitial Technical Activities: Initial Technical Activities Monitoring of food raw materials, food products, and water for ecological safety Studies of areas potentially contaminated by pesticides Characterization of bioactive substances derived from natural products Development of a web based data base of information on environmental science and biotechnologyISTC – RACEM Projects: ISTC – RACEM Projects Environmental Monitoring of Food and Water in Kirov Objective is to develop and demonstrate capability of RACEM to conduct complex chemical and microbiological analyses of raw agricultural products, food products, and water. Evaluation of Soil and Water Pollution Level Around Territory of Pesticide Burial and Storage Places Objectives are to develop and demonstrate ability to: (a) design and implement site characterization studies, (b) analyze for pesticide products in soil, (c) identify indigenous strains of micro-organisms that can destroy pesticides and be potential bioremediation agentsISTC – RACEM Projects: ISTC – RACEM Projects Research and Quality Control of Bioactive Substances Objective is to develop and document ability to characterize natural sources of bioactive agents and to determine their purity and composition. Creation of Regional I & R System on Scientific and Industrial Potential of the Kirov Region in the Sphere of Biotechnology and Allied Spheres Objective to establish and maintain a web site data base of information on areas in which RACEM is offering services to help market the organizationProject Implementation: Project Implementation For each project RACEM staff will develop: specific questions to be addressed or other appropriate objectives, study data quality objectives, sampling and analysis plan, list of deliverables, project schedule, training needs and training program. After review by Partner, training, and scientific work will be carried out with partner guidance.Project Implementation: Project Implementation Upon completion of each study, journal articles, reports and other appropriate documents will be prepared and presentations given to highlight the results, demonstrate RACEM’s expertise, and gain recognition of RACEM with potential clients. As soon as possible, Russian, ISO 9000, ISO 11000, LAB-17025, and GLP accreditation will be sought.Training of Staff and Management: Training of Staff and Management Training of scientific staff: on-site training, formal coursework, Internships in EPA, Rutgers, Cornell and other laboratories, and learning by conducting scientific studies under the close tutelage of appropriate experts.
