Corporations and The Internet:Good or Bad Combination?

Corporate Blogging :

Corporate Blogging As the article ‘Corporate blogging: Wal-Mart’s fumbles” explains there are useful and harmful ways to blog as a corporation. It shows that it is a common trend though with “more than three dozen of the FORTUNE 500 companies now produc[ing] blogs.” Companies such as Wal-Mart and Sony have both got themselves in trouble by allowing Public Relations firms to blog on their behalf.

User-Generated Content :

User-Generated Content Corporations are allowing consumers to create content for their brands. These contests are meant to allow consumers to express their views of the brand, however they have not always turned out in favor of the brands and have sometimes ended up hurting them in the long-run.

Social Networks :

Social Networks Social Networks have been dealing with the problems of privacy for their users, as well as allowing underage children to sign up and enter their sites. MySpace ran into both of these problems when users hacked the site and enabled users to see other private information, as well as the profiles of the users under age 16.
