Slide 1:

Implementation The heart of project management. It is what generates project outputs and utilizes the scarce resources. It cannot succeed without all the planning and design work which preceded it.

ROLE OF IMPLEMENTATION :

ROLE OF IMPLEMENTATION To mobilize the resources which were anticipated and carry out the activities which were planned.

OBJECTIVE OF IMPLEMENTATION :

OBJECTIVE OF IMPLEMENTATION To enact the project as close to the planned parameters as possible. Project activities will achieve anticipated outcomes (technical performance) within planned costs (cost performance) and schedules (time performance).

ROLE OF THE PROJECT MANAGER :

ROLE OF THE PROJECT MANAGER To keep track of the range of project activities, their functional relationships, and their scheduling dependencies. Must recognize that some activities cannot start before others are completed; that delays in some of them will hold up completion of the whole project whereas others are not so critical.

ROLE OF THE PROJECT MANAGER :

ROLE OF THE PROJECT MANAGER Must be a superb manager of human resources. Project staff and other people have to motivated to accept the manager’s leadership and over-all guidance. They have to be coached over difficult decisions. They have to be encouraged to take responsibility for the project performance.

ROLE OF THE PROJECT MANAGER :

ROLE OF THE PROJECT MANAGER Adept at solving problems and making decisions which arise in the course of using resources and generating project outputs. Too often, projects fail or suffer because the manager is not brought until the implementation phase.

ROLE OF NETWORKING :

ROLE OF NETWORKING A project implementation tool which helps managers ensure that project tasks occur in proper sequence and on time. When a task is delayed, networking helps the manager anticipate the impact of the delay on other tasks. It helps the manager determine which tasks in the project are most crucial to over-all project schedule.

Slide 8:

ROLE OF NETWORKING Networking is a graphical representation of project activities and deliverables which permit analysis and control of scheduling. It helps everyone to see how the activities relate to each other. It also helps everyone see the impact of a delay on other activities.

Slide 9:

ROLE OF NETWORKING It is like a road map. It helps everyone see where the project is going (expected results), intermittent stops along the way (project deliverables), distance of travel (time required per activity), and the most direct route (critical path).
