What is communism? :

What is communism? Communism is the conscious struggle to recreate, on the basis of modern conditions, the liberty, equality, and community of the ancestral social order of our species.

What is communism? :

What is communism? As a social system, communism is a type of egalitarian society with no state, no private property and no social classes. In communism, all property is owned by the community as a whole, and all people enjoy equal social and economic status. Perhaps the best known principle of a communist society is "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need".

What is communism? :

What is communism? As an ideology, the word communism is a synonym for Marxism and its various derivatives (most notably Marxism-Leninism). Marxism proposes the Materialist Conception of History; there are four stages of economic development, Slavery, Feudalism, Capitalism, and Communism. These stages are advanced through a dialectical process, refining society as history progresses. This refinement is driven by class struggle. Communism is the final refinement as it will result in one class.

What is communism? :

What is communism? As a political movement, communism is a branch of the broader socialist movement. The communist movement differentiates itself from other branches of the socialist movement through various things - such as, for example, the communists' desire to establish a communist system after the socialist one, and their commitment to revolutionary strategies for overthrowing capitalism.

What is communism? :

What is communism? For the most people, communism has negative connotations, and so how does one consider oneself a communist? Marx was a communist, and the philosophical system that bears his name continues to provide the best available understanding of the human condition. Lenin was a communist, and he was the most effective revolutionary in history. Jesus was a communist, so maybe he still has something to say to us. http://www.csulb.edu/~eruyle/ecumen/What.htm

What is communism? :

What is communism? Different people define communism differently, and they distinguish differently communism and related liberation theories, such as socialism, anarchism, anarcho-syndicalism, pacificism, feminism, liberation theology, libertarian municipalism, social ecology, and others. These are all reactions to the injustices of existing society and grow out of a similar thirst for a just society. The labels that people pin on themselves, or what other people pin on another, are less important than the common struggle.

What is communism? :

What is communism? Any attempt to understand communism must deal with the massive misunderstandings of communism that have been promulgated by the status quo. It is important to understand that, for the most part, these has been called “intentional misunderstandings,” in that they are not serious efforts to understand communism, but rather attempts to misunderstand it, and frighten people off as if it were come kind of boogeyman.

What is anti-communism? :

What is anti-communism? Anti-communism is something that is carefully inculcated in us, almost from birth. Most people never question it, and most don't care to. Overwhelmingly, people are willing to accept the status quo assumption that communism and communists are somehow unsavory and, well, distasteful. Say the word communism and people become uncomfortable. Mention Stalin, and all thought processes cease. It’s a taboo!

What is anti-communism? :

What is anti-communism? Clearly, such rejection of communism is not based upon an independent and critical investigation. Anti-communism is an underlying cultural assumption which does not need proof and defies disproof. Some activists may say, so what? Let’s get on with the real business of ending the ceaseless war going on around the world and struggling for some kind of justice on the streets without burdening ourselves with an outmoded ideology.

What is communism? :

What is communism? For Marx and Engels, communism was not an ideal state to which society had to conform, but rather the real movement which is transforming society into a higher condition. In order to understand this movement, it is necessary to understand that communism has gone through a series of phases.

Five Phases of Communism :

Five Phases of Communism Ancestral communism, or the communism of our earliest ancestors Spiritual communism, or the communism of Jesus (and others, including Buddha) Scientific communism, of Marx, Engels, and Lenin The communism of the present The communism of the future
