Vodcasting is simply a video that is available for download online. Vodcasting is a little different from podcasting. Podcasts usually contain only audio while a vodcast contains audio and video. Vodcasting is becoming more popular than podcasting with sites such as YouTube and TeacherTube. What tools do I need? : What tools do I need? To create a vodcast you need the following tools: Video Camera (Flipvideo, Digital Camera with video capabilities, or regular Video Camera) USB Cable or other cable to connect video camera to computer for uploading videos Computer with Internet connection Video editing software Hosting website to host vodcasts What software do I need? : What software do I need? To create a vodcast, you don’t necessarily need to be a pro at video editing. There are many programs that are easy to use and free! Windows Movie Maker Apple iMovie (MAC only) Avid FreeDV Wax Where can I host my vodcasts? : Where can I host my vodcasts? There are many sites you can host vodcasts on. There are many sites that are free if you don’t need a huge amount of storage space. Some free sites to host include: Podbean Switchpod Vimeo Teacher Tube Can I upload vodcasts to iTunes? : Can I upload vodcasts to iTunes? It’s easy to upload your vodcasts to iTunes! Download iTunes onto your computer by going to www.apple.com/iTunes. Open the iTunes Store. Click on Podcasts – Click on Submit a Podcast! You will enter your Podcast URL (your host site will have this information) and other information about your podcast Once you are approved you can search for your podcasts on iTunes! Now it’s time to create your very own vodcast! Using Microsoft Photo Story 3, you are going to create your own vodcast! Step 1: Download 5-6 pictures from the internet using Google Images. Step 2: Using the Photo Story 3 handout, make a video by following the step by step instructions. Upload the video to your classroom website or save it for use in the future!
