slide 1: Our brain has a complex structure
but it is the foundation for our well-
being. Mental disorders in human
beings are increasing at a
tremendous rate while some being
age-independent like anxiety
addiction some majorly occur at old
age like Alzheimer’s Disease and
Parkinson’s Disease.
Alzheimer’s disease is a form of Dementia. It occurs due to an
increase in the amyloid proteins resulting in the formation of
plaques and tau tangles on the brain. Initially the person having
this disease seems to have memory loss and difficulty in
remembering things. But if the condition gets worse it can lead to
difficulty in swallowing talking and walking.
No cure has been found for this disease till now but a lot of research has been
conducted giving us a ray of hope in nearing its cure. The Alzheimer’s Research
Foundation is a 501c 3 non-profit Alzheimer’s charity dedicated to Alzheimer’s
treatment. One such organization is LifeInSight BioTherapeutics which aims to
get one step closer to the treatment of mental health issues. With the fund raised
by this organization they want to find new methods for the treatment and cure
of such diseases.
Alzheimer’s disease
The worst part of some of the disorders is that they do
not have a proper cure up till now.
For example Alzheimer’s treatment or Parkinson’s
treatment has been found only for its symptoms but no
complete cure of the disease has still been discovered.
This is seen majorly in older
people usually 65 and older.
This disease progresses over
time increasing the loss of
memory. Because of the
worsening of the symptoms
the life expectancy after the
diagnosis ranges between 4
to 8 years on average.
However certain early-stage symptoms of this illness can be seen in patients such as
● Memorizing new information can be a difficult task for them.
● The thinking process gets slowed down.
● Mood and behavior changes can be observed. In later stages due to the worsening of
the condition severe symptoms can occur.
● They might have confusion about events places and time.
● They can even get suspicious about their friends family and professional caregivers.
● There is a risk that they might find difficulty in swallowing speaking and walking.
