Slide 1:First Comes Love – A Barsoomian Bachelor Challenge
Day 2
Slide 2:“Come on, Liz. You've got to do this for me.” Inga waved her hands wildly while she attempted to convince her sister. So much so that Liz had to duck out of the way twice or risk being hit in the face.
“Please,” Inga begged. “I'm not good at breaking bad news. You're much better at it 'cause you don't care if people get mad at you.” She dropped her hands and looked pitiful. “I hate it when people get mad at me.”
Slide 3:“Inga, you can just knock that off right now.” Liz protested. “The deal was that you'd handle people and I'd stay in the background and work on the technical stuff. You're not roping me into this.”
“You just want him to yell at me instead of you,” Inga said pitifully.
Slide 4:Neither girl noticed when Djor stepped into the office; they were too engrossed in their argument.
“You're going to have to be the one to tell him, and that's final. I'm not doing it.”
“Tell me what?”
Both girls turned to face Djor at the same time. Liz shrugged and walked back to her station at the computer while Inga's shoulder's slumped.
Inga looked at her hands instead of Djor. “Just have a seat. Are you in a good mood today?”
Slide 5:“Not particularly,” Djor answered as he sat on the interview couch. “Why?”
“Because I don't want you to yell at me.” Inga turned back to face her sister. “How exactly should I tell him?”
Djor's and Liz's eyerolls were almost simultaneous, but neither one noticed the other.
“Just spit it out, sis.”
Inga turned back and studied her fingernails. “Okay. Well, it seems, through no fault of our own, of course, and certainly not on purpose, that, well, by complete accident...” Inga took a deep breath and finished the rest of her confession in a mumbled rush, “...some of the instructions for yesterday were mixed up and you did the wrong thing by flirting all those times and you should have been in the hot tub instead and it wasn't our fault and please don't yell at me.”
Slide 6:It took a moment for Inga's jumble to sort itself out in Djor's mind, but once it became clear, he couldn't believe what he was hearing.
“Are you freaking kidding me? You mean I did all that flirting twice in a row for nothing? Do you know how freaking hard that was for me? Don't even tell me that makes what happened disqualified or something. I am not going through these past couple of days again.” Djor finished his tirade in a shout.
Slide 7:“I knew you were going to yell,” Inga said with a sigh. “Wait, please,” she continued when it looked like he was going to say more. “It's not our fault. Our instructions were mixed up. And the results are still valid. Nothing has to be done over. It's just a little mix-up and it didn't hurt anything.”
Djor took a calming breath and unclenched his fists. “Fine. As long as what's done is done.”
“Are you ready for your interview then?” Inga asked tentatively.
“As ready as I'll ever be.”
Slide 8:Inga perked up almost immediately. “Good. So last time you and Rosemary Legacy had very little contact on the first day. When you did finally speak on the second day, you found that you didn't get along very well at all. You decided that she was going to be the first to leave.”
“Sure. That about sums it up.”
“So would you like to begin telling us about what happened afterwards?”
Slide 9:Well, I was on my way back in the house when Moon stopped me on the back patio. She must have been working out or something, because she was definitely not dressed for the weather. She grabbed my arm and left her hand there, and for a minute I just waited to find out if she was going to let me know what she wanted.
Eventually I gave up. “Let's get you inside before you freeze,” I said as I took her hand. I was just trying to get her to let go of my arm, but I liked the way she felt too much to let go. I tried to walk her towards the door when she stepped in front of me again and shook her head.
“What's going on, Moon?”
I had no idea what she was trying to tell me, but something was definitely up inside the house. The yelling was my next clue.
Slide 10:I didn't have to walk far to find the source of the noise. I always thought that watching two girls fight would be kind of hot, but I don't know now. This was more, well, scary. I've never scene two people go at each other the way Beth and Abby did. I've been in a few fights in my day, and let me tell you, I was suddenly glad I fought guys.
Slide 11:Making heads or tails of what they were screaming about was impossible. At first I thought that I might be the reason behind the fight, but I changed my mind after listening to them. Obviously Abby and Beth were just two people that should have never been left alone together.
Slide 12:Surprise doesn't even begin to cover how I felt when they actually threw down right there in the foyer.
Slide 13:Just when I decided that it was time for me to interfere, the fight was over. Abby got the worst of it. I guess all that time Beth spent in the exercise room on the first day had done her some good after all.
Slide 14:I did try to talk to Abby. It's not easy having your rear-end handed to you—or so I've heard. But she just walked out the back door without saying a word. It might have been for the best anyway. I got on the wrong side of her temper the first day and I didn't really want a repeat of that.
Slide 15:Did I say that watching two girls fight wasn't hot? I should probably take that back. It was scary and hot.
Slide 16:“You should have seen it, Wren. They were just going at each other right at the bottom of the stairs. It was the craziest fight I've ever seen.”
“Mmm.” Wren took a sip of her drink. I could tell she wasn't as amused as I was, so I gave up and figured that I'd just tell my brother about it when I get home. He'd appreciate it.
“Seriously, though. Do you know what they were fighting about?”
Wren shrugged her shoulders in between sips. “Nope. I know they had some words when we first got here yesterday, but I didn't think it was anything serious. Just normal fingers-in-ears stuff. Why? You think they're fighting about you?”
I watched her smirk at my reaction. “No. They were definitely not fighting about me.”
Slide 17:Before Wren could say anything else, Abby came in. The room got silent almost immediately. Even after Abby got to the bar and grabbed a drink, there was still no one speaking. For once in my life, I decided to be the one to break an awkward silence.
“Well, I don't know about everyone else, but after this drink I'm breaking out the buffet. I'm starving.” I wasn't really all that hungry, but everyone seemed relieved to have the distraction, myself included.
Slide 18:I thought this dinner would be less tense than the first one. I was very wrong. Abby and Beth were at opposite ends of the table trying very hard to ignore each other. The rest of us were just stuck in the middle wondering if there was something safe to talk about.
Slide 19:The tension must have been too much for Citrine.
“So Abby,” she said while smiling away, “Beth was just telling me how much she likes having an exercise room here to use. What's been your favorite thing about this place so far?”
Slide 20:I got what she was trying to do, I really did. But, man, was her timing awkward. My fork just kind of hovered over my plate for a minute and out of the corner of my eye, I noticed that Liv had frozen mid-bite.
Everyone seemed to relax a little when Abby started talking about how peaceful and quiet it was compared to living on campus. That gave everyone else some common ground again and we all talked about the good, bad, and ugly of college life for a while.
Slide 21:Liv was entertaining everyone with stories about all the trouble her family members had gotten themselves into while they were at college. I was in the middle of thanking my lucky stars that there hadn't been a photo booth in my dorm room when I happened to glance up at Moon. She had the most puzzled expression on her face.
Slide 22:“So I guess your college years weren't any like Liv's either, huh, Moon?” I asked.
She blinked slowly and shrugged.
“Well, there's nothing wrong with not going to college.” I thought maybe that's why she was acting so strange. “Plenty of people don't.”
Citrine was staring off into the distance as she spoke. “I don't remember anything like that, either.”
Wren spoke up. “Well, the way Liv described Aravast House, that might be a lucky break.”
Slide 23:Liv acted faux indignant for a minute before agreeing. Citrine had completely removed herself from the conversation though. She spent the rest of dinner in her own little world, only turning away from her food to stare out of the window.
Slide 24:“Not to change the subject,” Wren suddenly interrupted, “but dinner's almost over and I do believe we each get a little alone time with you tonight, Djor. According to the information in our agendas, anyway. Got anything special planned?”
Slide 25:Everyone at the table turned to look at me all at once. I'd be lying if I said I lost my appetite, but my stomach still didn't feel quite right through the rest of the dinner. I excused myself a little earlier than I'd originally planned so that I could go upstairs and wait.
Slide 26:Citrine was the first person to knock at my door. She stepped inside and it seemed like we both just looked awkwardly around the room for a while. Too long.
Finally she looked up at me. I guess she decided that it was up to her to break the ice. I would have said something eventually--I was just having a hard time getting around to it.
“So how is this supposed to work, anyway?” she asked.
“Well, I don't know really. I'm not that good at this stuff. But I know that a little buzzer is going to go off when our time's up.”
“So we should get started then?” she suggested. A pretty little blush just started to appear on her cheeks.
Slide 27:I took a step closer to her and dropped my voice.
“We should definitely get started.” I paused for a second and gave her a good look. “I don't think we have to be so nervous around each other, you know.”
“You don't?”
“No. I like you. You're a sweet little bit of a thing, Citrine.”
“You can call me Trini, you know,” she said in a whisper.
The buzzer went off, startling both of us. “I guess I better go,” she said without moving.
I leaned in just a little closer. “I'll be talking to you again real soon, Trini.” I was pleased to see her blushing again as she walked towards the door. It was almost too easy.
Slide 28:Beth came in shortly after. I admit that she caught me worrying a little about what I was going to say.
“Are you nervous or something?”
I immediately stopped wringing my hands. “Not exactly. This just doesn't come natural to me.”
Beth scoffed. “Judging by the look on Trini's face when she walked out, I'm betting that you're doing fine.”
Slide 29:Once again I found myself stepping closer. Maybe this stuff comes more easily when I'm under pressure, I don't know.
“Do you really want to talk about Trini right now, Beth?”
She smiled and matched my step. We were almost touching. “Not particularly, no.”
“Nothing much gets to you, does it?” I asked.
“Not really,” she answered while locking eyes with me. “Anything get to you, Djor?”
“Maybe pretty brunettes do.”
Beth smiled, but the buzzer went off before she could reply.
Slide 30:Abby came in next. Instead of worrying over what to say, I just gave her a once over and a long whistle.
Slide 31:I wasn't real sure how that was going to go over, but she didn't seem to mind.
Slide 32:For the third time in just a few minutes, I found myself leaning close to a beautiful woman and hoping that whatever I said didn't sound completely stupid.
Slide 33:Liv raised one eyebrow. “That's a terrible line, Djor.”
“Is it?” Somehow, she didn't make me feel bad when she said it. Maybe it was because she stilled seemed pretty flustered. “Should I try again?”
Once again the buzzer interrupted a perfectly good conversation. Liv looked towards the door and then back at me before giving me a smile. “It looks like I'll have to wait and see what you come up with next time.”
“I'll be sure and make it better.”
“I'll be looking forward to it.”
Slide 34:Moon came in next and my worries about coming up with good lines went away immediately. I didn't need a line with Moon. I also didn't want to waste any time.
Slide 35:I grabbed her hand and pulled her close to me. Our cheeks brushed as I was whispering into her ear. I felt her shiver just a little and it made my heart start beating even harder.
“You're so beautiful, Moon. I'm really glad you're here.”
When she nodded and began running her hand lightly up and down my arm, I put my arm around her waist and pulled her even closer. “I can't wait to get to know you even better.”
Neither of us wanted to pull away when the buzzer sounded, but fair is fair and Moon walked out of the room after a long moment.
Slide 36:I'll admit that I was still recovering a little from Moon's visit when Wren walked in. Once again I was at a loss for words. But only for a minute. As soon as Wren smirked at me, I knew exactly what I wanted to say to her.
Slide 37:“The way you handle a cue is smokin' hot, you know.”
Her eyes got a little wider and the smirk on her face slowly turned into a smile. Mission accomplished. For some reason I felt the need to keep Wren on her toes.
“Oh, you'd be surprised at the kind of tricks I can do with a big st--”
“Hey!” I was feeling a little warm all of the sudden. “That might be going a little too far.”
Her smirk was firmly back in place. “You started it and you know it. Too far, huh?”
I looked at her and felt warm all over again. “For now, anyway.”
This time I was a little thankful for the buzzer.
Slide 38:With that ordeal under my belt, I followed Wren out of the door and down stairs. A few of us began a game of pool and slowly I started feeling comfortable again. No one even mentioned anything that was said upstairs and I was grateful. It was like everyone knew it was all just a game at this point, so no one was too worried about it one way or the other.
Unfortunately, I knew that I was going to have to do it all over again the next morning. I tried not to think about that as I played.
Slide 39:I wished I had been paying more attention when I suddenly realized that Abby and Wren had started discussing their housemates. As it was, I just caught the tail end of the conversation.
“Was it just me,” Abby asked, ”or were Moon and Trini acting really weird while we were talking about college?”
Wren tracked the movement of the cue ball while she answered. “Well, you know, Moon and weird kind of go hand in hand.”
Abby smirked. “Yeah. But Trini, too?”
Slide 40:I could hear Liv harumphing under her breath behind me, but I decided to say something before she did.
“Since when did you two become the be all and end all of normal?”
Slide 41:Abby's gave me a look that could kill, but Wren just shook her head.
“Just because you've decided Moon is a delicate snowflake, Djor, doesn't mean that she is one.” She paused to take her shot before continuing. “Trini and Moon were acting weird and I don't think they're going to go cry in their cornflakes because we said so.”
“Besides,” Abby chimed in, “they're upstairs. They can't even hear us.”
“Well, I can hear you,” I replied, “and I'd rather talk about something else. I'm going to get a drink.”
Slide 42:Wren followed me to the bar.
“Look, Djor, you don't have to get all worked up about it.”
“I just think you should lay off Moon. This can't be easy for her.”
“And Trini?”
I shrugged. “She's shy. I identify.”
“So you're their knight in shining armor then?”
“Sure I am. And now that you know, you can start calling me 'Sir'.”
Slide 43:Wren busted out laughing. “You try and make me and I'll kick you in the round tables.”
It was my turn to laugh. “That was really lame, Wren.”
“Hey! It wasn't that bad considering that I came up with it on the fly.”
I just raised my eyebrows and waited for her to catch what she'd just said.
She groaned. “No. No puns.”
“Was that a pun or a double entendre?”
“Whichever it was, it was stupid.”
Slide 44:Suddenly the conversation just died. I hate all these awkward silences, but just as I was about to end it by saying goodnight, Wren was sliding behind me. I had no idea what she had in mind until I felt her hands on my shoulders. After that I just closed my eyes and enjoyed.
We didn't talk much when she was done—just a goodnight or two before we made our way upstairs.
Slide 45:I wasn't exactly tired, but I was ready to be alone for a while. Since there was nothing better to do in my room, I changed into my pajamas and climbed into bed. I was hoping that sleep would come as easily as it had the night before, but my brain had other ideas. I tossed and turned forever while my mind played out every possible scenario it could for the next day's events. I guess you could say I was a little nervous about it.
Slide 46:I have to admit, I could do without all of the flirting stuff. Not that getting to flirt with a bunch of beautiful women with immunity is bad, but doing it this way feels so, I don't know, formulaic. It's almost too much pressure. But in this case, I did what I was told.
When Abby walked in my room bright and early the next morning, I was ready to give things another go. It seems like the first one is the hardest, but at least with Abby I had already figured out what I wanted to say to her.
Slide 47:“Do you really like my smile, Djor?
“Yeah, I do. You should do it more often. Instead of yelling at me.”
“Is this really how you flirt? If so, you could use some practice.”
“Mmm. Maybe you just want me to practice on you.”
“If I had you all to myself, maybe.”
I raised my eyebrows at that. “Do you want me all to yourself, Abby?”
Unfortunately, the buzzer sounded and I didn't get an answer.
Slide 48:A few minutes went by before Beth came in. She did not look happy, to put it mildly. And she didn't waste any time telling me why, either.
“You know, Djor, if you think I'm going to be the next to leave, then you should just tell me to my face. You shouldn't be talking about it with other contestants. And definitely not Abby, of all people.”
“Beth, what in hell are you even talking about? I haven't even thought about elimination yet. I'm trying to get through this flirting crap first. And I sure didn't discuss it with Abby.”
Slide 49:She had the decency uncross her arms and look a little embarrassed.
“So you didn't tell Abby that?”
“Don't be stupid. Of course not. She's trying to piss you off and you're letting her. And now we've used up what little time we had here arguing. I want to get to know you better, but you sure are making it difficult.”
“I thought men liked a good chase.”
I had to laugh at that one. “Maybe. But I don't think it's the best strategy here. You're supposed to be chasing me.”
Slide 50:Finally she looked up at me. “So you're wanting me to chase you?”
“It would be a nice change of pace, yeah.”
Slide 51:My time with Beth ended at that point and I didn't have long to wait before Wren came in.
“So what have you got for me this time, Mr. Bachelor?”
“Depends. You want straight up flirting or some more slightly nasty innuendo?”
“You've got enough material to actually give me a choice?”
“Well, I'm probably better at innuendo, but I'm a man of many talents. I'll adjust.”
Slide 52:“But,” I continued, “I think you just might like the innuendos a little bit better anyway.”
“You think so, do you?”
“Am I wrong?”
Wren leaned back and looked at me. “I think it's too soon for you to be getting overly confident.”
“And yet I think I've called it.”
She looked towards the door as the buzzer sounded. “On that note,” she said as she walked out, “I think I'll leave you wondering.”
Slide 53:“So what have you got for me this time?” Liv asked after we'd talked for a moment.
I ran my hand through my hair and pretended to give it some serious thought. “Well, I was up all night thinking about it and I still couldn't come up with anything outstanding.”
“Nothing at all? Really?”
“Well, I considered telling you that you have the best laugh I've ever heard. But then I thought maybe I could mention that I'd bet money that you'd put the brown-eyed girl in that Van Morrison song to shame. That's pretty good, right? But you know, what I really couldn't stop thinking about was that story you told where you were dancing on the pool table. So I decided to ask what my chances are of getting a private viewing.” I stopped for a second and ran my finger across her shoulder. “Any of that sounding good to you or should I keep trying?”
Slide 54:To my surprise, Liv ducked her head and a blush crept across her cheeks. “None of those were too bad, actually.”
“So do you have an answer for me?”
“Not yet.”
“You don't have the answer yet? Or is 'not yet' the answer?”
Her giggle returned as she turned the doorknob. “I'll let you figure it out.”
Slide 55:At this point I had to pee like a racehorse and it was a little embarrassing to find Trini standing outside the door waiting for me to finish. Not to mention that we were standing in front of an open bathroom door to have our little moment. It didn't exactly set the mood. But time was ticking by so I didn't bother saying anything about it.
Slide 56:Without even giving it much thought, I reached out to brush back some of her hair that had fallen over her shoulder. To my surprise, she flinched back like I was going to slap her. I don't even remember now what I was going to say. Whatever it was, I bit my tongue.
Slide 57:“Is something wrong, Trini?”
She stepped back to put a little distance between us. “I did some thinking last night and I don't want to play this little game anymore.”
“What game? The show? Or the flirting?”
Her shoulders slumped a little as she sighed. “Look, Djor, I just don't think that you and I are meant to be together. Maybe we're too different or something. But whatever the reason, what's the point in going through these motions if we already know that we're not meant to be?”
“I don't know, Trini. Because I like you and I want to get you know you better? It seemed like you felt the same way.”
Slide 58:“I did, Djor. And anywhere else that might be enough. But here we're just wasting each other's time.”
At this point she turned towards the door but then stopped. Even with her back facing me I could tell she was struggling with what to say. I'm not a patient man, but this time I just kept my mouth shut and waited. Finally she spoke.
“Saying this hasn't been exactly easy for me, so thank you for not making it harder than it had to be. I really do hope that things work out for you and whoever you choose.”
Then she was through the door before I could say a word.
Slide 59:Trini really through me for a loop with that. I didn't know what to think about it at all. I must have been off in another world when Moon came in, because I didn't even hear her.
Slide 60:In fact, I had no idea she was even in the room until I felt her hands on my shoulders. Suddenly things didn't seem so bad anymore. We stayed like that for a while. I didn't want her to stop and I guess she realized it.
Slide 61:As soon as she did stop, I turned around and reached for her. Maybe I should have been nervous after what happened with Trini, but I knew that Moon wouldn't reject me. Don't ask me how I knew--I just knew.
“You're amazing,” I told her as I ran my hand down her back. “You make my whole day brighter just by being in it.”
Slide 62:She gave me a look that suggested that she thought I was crazy, but I meant it. It might have been the corniest thing I've ever thought, much less said, but it was true.
“You can look at me like that all you want, but it's not a line. It's true. And you looking at me like that doesn't make it very easy to tell you so.”
I knew I'd struck a nerve then because she immediately looked sorry.
“Don't be sorry,”I said before she could try and tell me so. “Just believe me.”
When she smiled I had all the answer I needed.
Slide 63:Moon and I walked downstairs together. As soon as I walked into the game room, I noticed Trini standing at the bar. I was trying to decide what to do and I guess I must have been lost in thought for longer than I realized. Or maybe I had a funny look on my face or something. All I know is that when I looked back at Moon, she was encouraging me to to go over and say something to Trini. Either I was being obvious or she's something like a mind reader.
Slide 64:Even mind readers can hand out bad advice. Trini went into defense mode as soon as she realized that I was coming to talk to her. I barely had my words out before she had her hands on her hips.
“Trini, calm down. I just want to make sure that you're sure about what you said upstairs.”
Slide 65:“I really didn't want to get into this down here. I'm sure. If I wasn't sure then I wouldn't have said it. I tried to be nice about it, but I don't know how much clearer I can be.”
“Fine, Trini. If that's what you want then I'll give it to you. And just for the record, I don't consider getting to know you a waste of time. And if you think it's 'nice' to tell me that getting to know me was a waste of your time, then you've got a real crappy idea of what nice is.”
She was so mad that I could imagine little sparks flying around her head. For a second, I started to wonder what would happen if she got mad enough to reach out and send some of that electricity my way. Lucky for me, she just turned her back on me instead.
“Just leave me alone, Djor. And for the record, I take back what I said about making this easy on me.”
Slide 66:Letting other people get the last word hasn't ever been something I was good at. I started to say something else when I felt Beth pulling me aside.
“I think you should just leave well enough alone,” she said. “Don't make it worse.”
“It's not really any of your business, Beth.”
She shrugged. “Maybe not, but Trini's a sweet girl. Anything you say to each other is going to hurt her a lot more than it would hurt you.”
Slide 67:I laughed out loud when she said that. “I think she'd actually have to care to get hurt by anything I said. And she's made it pretty clear that she doesn't.”
Beth looked around the room and smiled. Without losing the smile for a moment she whispered, “She's coming back in here, so knock it off.”
Slide 68:I don't know if Trini was going to say something to me or what, because I ignored her. Beth seemed to think that I was being childish, but I told her that I appreciated her help and left to get ready for the elimination without ever looking Trini's way.
If she was done with me, I could feel the same.
Slide 69:I was just dragging the table into place when the clock struck twelve and started chiming. Everyone started filtering slowly into the front hall. I really don't think this was anyone's favorite part of the day.
Slide 70:For a long time, I just stood and stared at the rose on the table. I wasn't trying to drag out the suspense for anyone, just trying to figure out exactly what I was going to say.
Slide 71:It was taking a long time. Too long. I could hear some restless sighs. Finally I looked at each of the girls gathered around me.
“This decision was really easy. Too easy, unfortunately. And it's not the decision I wanted to make.”
Slide 72:I snatched the rose up and moved towards Trini.
“You made this decision for me, Trini. And I'm not happy about it. But here. Goodbye. Whatever.”
Slide 73:I think maybe I was too harsh, but I was pretty angry about the turn the day had taken. Trini took the rose and looked almost sorry for a second.
“And that's why I knew we wouldn't work out for long. But thanks for having me here. I'm really sorry if I hurt you. It's not what I wanted to do.”
Slide 74:Back in the interview room, Djor scuffed his shoes together restlessly and sat in silence. When he finally spoke, he sounded resigned.
Slide 75:“So that's the story. Trini decided to go home because I wasn't good enough for her.”
“Are you sure that's the reason?” Inga asked. “Maybe you shouldn't read too much into what she said.”
“Look, I really don't need to you try and help me feel better. I just want to get out of here and do what I need to do for the rest of the day.”
Djor pulled an agenda out of his pocket and read it over. “Are you sure that this one is correct?”
“Yes, we're sure. Sorry again about the mix up. We'll see you tomorrow?”
“Like I have a choice. See ya' then,” Djor called just before the office door closed behind him.
Slide 76:Only a few minutes passed before Citrine replaced Djor on the couch to face her interviewer. She seemed reluctant and uncomfortable, but her eyes were steady when she turned to face Inga.
Slide 77:“So, Citrine,” Inga began, “what exactly made you change your mind so suddenly about the bachelor? He seemed very confused by the whole episode. And I have to admit, it doesn't make much sense to me either.”
Slide 78:Citrine's voice was quiet as she answered. “It's just what I told him. I didn't think that the two of us would work. So why go through these motions? Why not end it before more serious feelings are involved?”
Slide 79:Inga frowned. “Judging by his reaction, maybe there were already some feelings involved.”
“I-I don't know. If he's really hurt by what I said, I'm sorry. This was really hard for me, but I just needed to be honest.”
“Is there anything else you want to say?”
“No. I just want to go. I saw the cab waiting and I can show myself out.”
“Are you sure you don't want us to walk with you? We need to at least tell you about your living arrangements.”
“I know everything I need to know. I'll be fine. Like I said, I just want to go.”
Slide 80:Citrine seemed determined so Inga moved over to the computer as she left. She felt vaguely uneasy after these interviews. Not at all as excited as she did the day before.
Slide 81:That changed as soon as her sister brought the final score up on the screen. Inga moved behind her with a yelp of excitement to get a look at the screen.
“Your ability to move from one thing to the other with such ease is truly amazing, sis.”
“Oh, shush. It's exciting. Just give me the scores.”
Wren – 64/21 = 85 (mutual friends)
Moon – 63/20 = 83 (mutual friends, Moon in crush)
Beth – 55/10 = 65 (mutual friends)
Liv – 43/11 = 54
Abby – 36/-1 = 35
Citrine – 14/15 = 29
