Section 1 – Each State to Honor all others All states will honor the laws of other states You may be asking yourself, can you give me an example of this? SURE, I CAN!! If you are married in Pennsylvania, you’ll still be married if you move to Florida

Section 2 – State Citizens, Extradition: 

Section 2 – State Citizens, Extradition Citizens of one state will be treated fairly like citizens of another A fugitive who flees to another state will be returned to the state where the crime was committed

Section 2, continued… When a slave escapes to a “free” state, he or she shall be returned to his owner in the slave state Hmmmm ??? Does this still exist? NO!! The 13 th Amendment to the Constitution superseded this.

Section 3 – New States: 

Section 3 – New States No new state can be formed within an existing state No new state can be formed by combining two or more existing states without the consent of all states involved Congress has all rights to regulate territory

Section 4 – Republican Government: 

Section 4 – Republican Government Each state will be guaranteed a republican form of government Actually is a representative democracy The people elect officials to represent them
