Introduction:

Introduction Peter’s Sermon in Cornelius’ House “We are witnesses of everything he did in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They killed him by hanging him on a tree, but God raised him from the dead on the third day and caused him to be seen…He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one whom God appointed as judge of the living and the dead.” Acts 10:39-43

Old Testament Background:

Old Testament Background Abraham “Will not the Judge of all the earth do right?” Hannah “the Lord will judge the ends of the earth.” David “for he comes to judge the earth” Isaiah "For the Lord is our judge”

How God Deals with Us:

How God Deals with Us Grace = Getting something (good) we don’t deserve. Mercy = Not getting something (bad) we do deserve. Judgement = Getting some of what we deserve (bad) but not all.

How God judges :

How God judges The root meaning of judge in Hebrew is someone who restores life. Psalm 9:7-8 says the Lord “will judge the world in righteousness”. The goal of God is bring us back to himself

New Testament revelation:

New Testament revelation Paul in his sermon in Athens “he will judge the world in righteousness by a man  whom he has appointed.” Paul in his epistle to the Corinthians “ For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ” Peter’s sermon at Cornelius’ house “ he is the one whom God appointed as judge of the living and the dead”

Conclusion:

Conclusion Good News! – Jesus is the Judge of All the Earth Yes some will face punishment But Jesus has no desire to condemn And he will judge justly His judgement is the source of our eternal confidence!
