Space Coast Early Intervention Center Location: Melbourne, Florida Demographics Children 13 months to 5 years After school care ages 5 to 9 Kindergarten and beyond summer program Organization’s Services “The preschool where every child can learn and grow.” (http://www.sceic.com/) Offer full and part-time preschool services, VPK, aftercare, and summer programs A.P.P.L.E. Accredited, Nonprofit Mission “To be our community’s premier non-profit center for the support, care, and maximum development of young children challenged by disabilities and their typically developing peers.” (http://www.sceic.com/)

Engagement Activities:: 

Engagement Activities: Extra hands and eyes in the classroom Ms. Maureen. 3 and 4 year old room 2 days, 6 hours each Beginning to clean and build an aquarium . Community Needs Addressed: *One-on-one attention *Basic classroom help/cleaning *Clean up of the outside aquarium

Participant Demographics: 

Participant Demographics In the classroom: Ages 3 and 4 Half children with disabilities, half mainstream or “typically developing” children Disabilities (refer to the I.D.E.A.) ranging from Downs Syndrome, to Autism, to specific physical disabilities. I worked specifically with 10 children with disabilities; however, my help with the aquarium project will affect the entire school population. IDEA: “Special education and related services should be designed to meet the unique learning needs of eligible children with disabilities, preschool through age 21. Students with disabilities should be prepared for further education, employment and independent living.” (http://www2.ed.gov/policy/speced/guid/idea/idea2004.html)
