Ethics: The code of morale principles and values that governs the behaviors of a person or group with respect to what is right or wrong.

Why is ethics so important? : 

Why is ethics so important? Ethics are at the root of every business relationship Good Ethics = Trustworthiness If an organization is trustworthy there is a higher return rate for clients Trustworthiness = Success!

We will not discriminate between clients or professionals based on race, age, creed, disabilities, handicaps, preferences, or other personal concerns.” “We maintain an objective and professional relationship with each client and we respect the rights and views of other mental health professionals.”

Top Reasons for an Ethics Officer Helps counsel employees on ethics Disciplines ethical violations Makes sure all employees are aware of the organization’s ethical stance Enforces code of ethics

Types of Ethical Dilemmas : 

Types of Ethical Dilemmas Right vs. Right Protecting the patients’ privacy, but needing to contact authorities if they are harmful to themselves or others Right vs. Wrong Entering a code as family therapy to receive higher payment, when only the individual was seen.

Conclusion : 

Conclusion It is my recommendation that Counseling Associates of Southern Illinois appoint a member of the senior staff to be the ethics officer and send the individual to be properly trained to assist in ethical matters to make sure the organization continues heading in the right direction.
