How can I help?Who is Kathleen?: Who is Kathleen? When Kathleen first came to us, she was very sick and vulnerable, and she had no idea what was in store for her future. Kathleen had a difficult time trusting us at first, but with time, she came to realize we were not going to abandon her; that she mattered as much to us as we did to her. In her time spent at Beswick House, she shared many stories and pieces of her life with us. From stories about her life on the street to her love of stuffed animals. She began to open up a vulnerable, simpler, child-like person – a side of Kathleen we hadn’t seen before. Kathleen passed away peacefully in our care shortly thereafter. Project Kathleen is a joint initiative between Alberta Health Services and the SHARP Foundation to provide support to more vulnerable women living with HIV and other co-morbidities like Kathleen. This project will give four women a safe, non- judgemental , compassionate environment to build their health; develop life skills; and care for themselves, families and the community. The primary goal of this project is to help each client build their self-esteem so they can move into a more independent environment. Studies indicate that for any intervention to be successful, vulnerable persons must be provided with a stable environment that is comfortable & secure. We would like your help to make this house as welcoming as possible. The SHARP Foundation needs $50,000 for furniture, household supplies, appliances, linens, welcoming packages and other odds and ends.
