Bi Fuel Car :

Bi Fuel Car Stefano and Davide - 4C Mecc - Itis Pininfarina Methane with Gasoline or Diesel GPL with Gasoline

Cng car – Compressed Natural Gas car :

Cng car – Compressed Natural Gas car Respect for the environment, for nature and for the world in which we live every day is an unavoidable need for all car manufacturers, so they are looking for alternative fuels like: Methane LPG

Methane :

Methane Methane, being totally free of toxic substances, reduces emissions of particulates, benzenes and all other aromatic hydrocarbons to zero; it also reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 25% and, as a result, also reduces the impact on the greenhouse effect. It is the simplest hydrocarbon found in many natural gases. It Is obtained from the decomposition of organic or synthetic substances. It doesn't require refining facilities or addition of additives and can be used after the normal extraction treatments. Transport occurs Methane also brings benefits in terms of savings: it considerably reduces maintenance costs, thanks to the almost total lack of carbon residues in the engine. primarily through a grid of pipelines and thus available without accumulation in deposits and without blocking traffic on the surface.

LPG :

LPG LPG ( Liquefied petroleum gas ) is a flammable mixture of hydrocarbon gases used as a fuel in heating appliances and vehicles. In order to allow the use of the same burner controls and to provide for similar combustion characteristics, LPG / air mixing ratios average 60/40, though this is widely variable based on the gases making up the LPG. LPG can be mixed with air to produce a synthetic natural gas (SNG) that can be easily substituted.

Advantage and disvantage of Bi-fuel car :

Advantage and disvantage of Bi-fuel car In Italy methane and LPG use has increased, also thanks to the “State campaign of eco-incentives” (“scrapping campaign”) to buy a new car with more ecological engines: during the “no-drive days” because of the increase of pollution, bi-fuel engine cars are allowed to circulate. Furthermore, as an incentive to buy this type of car, you don’t pay State property tax for the first 5 years. In addition, with the latest protection systems, the LPG and methane fuel tank offer the same high levels of safety as a petrol tank. From the point of view of the car performance, bi-fuel engine are generally less bright than with other fuels. Typically, the engine power is 10% lower when powered with natural gas than when powered by gasoline or diesel.

Methane and LPG in Italy :

Methane and LPG in Italy Fiat is the first manufacturer to offer low environmental impact engines with Natural Power (powered by methane) range and produces a wide array of vehicles with methane-petrol dual fuel systems. Usually the LPG plants are installed on cars with aspirated engines. In Italy, Fiat has designed a 1.4 turbo engine with petrol and LPG fuel. It 's a great innovation because it can increase the performance but In Italy supplies are available in approximately 750 distributors but only with the help of an assigned person, the full self-service is prohibited, as is allowed only in a “controlled“ area, namely through the presence of a trained operator on the area of the plant. maintaining consumption and environmental pollution at low level. Another engine under development is a 900 bi-cylindrical turbo LPG.  The reduction of displacement leads to less weight, less fuel consumption and consequently less CO2 emissions.
